I was finally done rearranging the office. I went to my office and waited anxiously for her arrival. Is she gonna like it ? I thought. But then I felt like one thing is missing. I went to the nearby floral shop. I looked around to see if any of them had caught my attention. I pointed to a violet lily flower and looked at the florist who gave me a smile. "May I ask the occasion?" The lady working in the floral shop asked with a smile. "Well it's to welcome my new employee I wanted to be as friendly as I could.""So you're trying to socialize with him through violet lily flowers? Hmmmmm... I have a feeling that it won't be his taste."
I laughed out loud. "It's a lady." I said holding myself from bursting into another laughter. The florist looked embarssed and gave a smile. "Well then you have made the right choice." She replied handing the flowers over to me.I rushed into the office and headed to the new office that I have set up for Rukia. I picked out the vase from my desk and placed the flowers inside. I placed the flowers right infront hoping that it will be the first thing that she'll notice.
I can hear footsteps getting louder and louder. She must be here! I thought. I brushed off my hair slicking it backwards and tried to maintain a cool pose. I placed my right had in my pocket and tilted my left arm looking at my watch. I've seen those poses on magazines and my sister seemed to drool over those. The door was opened and Ahmed walked in with a smirk in his face. Rukia walked behind and greeted while walking in. "Asalamualeykum werahmetulahi weberekatu."She was in her abaya and hijab but still looked stunning. I began to surf her eyes as if I wanted to clearly tell her that she was taking my breath away. But I never had the guts. "Uhhhhhhmmmmmm!" Ahmed cleared his throat. I was so distracted that I hadn't replied and a long silence had filled the room. I looked away right after realizing that I was clearly creating awkwardness in the room.
"Waleykumuselam werahmetulahi weberekatu. Ummmm... how are you doing? Are you ready for your first day of work?" I asked with a serious tone.
"Wait...? Does this mean I got the job?" Rukia questioned me with excitement sparkling in her eyes. I slowly nodded. Rukia turned around with a giggle and hugged Fathima who was standing behind. Fathima flashed her a smile and wrapped her arms around Rukia congratulating her for her success. I couldn't help do anything but grin proudly with excitement.
"Uhmmmmm... so Fathima I'm counting on you so please make sure she'll feel at home and help her out with some things until she catches on." I gave an order to Fathima and walked out still trying my best to maintain a cool pose. I walked into my office and took in a deep breath.
What was that all about? Why was I feeling as if I had run the marathon. I just stood there but felt so exhausted and tensed. I started to think. I walked towards the glass and looked through. I had my windows blacked out the glasses so I could monitor my employees at anytime. So there I was monitoring one of my employees through the glass.
"What's so funny? Look atch you with that grin of yours!" Ahmed walked in with a smiriking smile on his face. "Amr!........Bro! I have never seen this side of you and honestly I find it quiet odd. No offence though! " Ahmed layed his arms on my shoulder giving a pat and then left.Days went on I was still there standing at the familiar spot drinking my morning hot espresso enjoying the view past the glasses as usual. My phone rang and I looked to see who the caller was. It was Mr . Abubakhar!
"Asalamualeykum werahmetulahi weberekatu Mr Abubakhar!"
"Waleykumuselam werahmetulahi weberekatu. How are you doing Amr?"
"Alhamdulilah ana temam. How about you?" I asked.
"Alhamdulilah I just called in to tell you that I'll be leaving to Macau in 2 hours. I have things to do there and if there's anything you need make sure to let me know through Mr Mansoor he will take the calls when I'm busy."
"Oh well INSHALLAH I hope you have a safe flight. I hope to see you soon INSHALLAH!"
"INSHALLAH and please take a good care of my daughter. I trust you, Amr. Please I'm asking you as a father not as a business partner."
