-------
The taxi's engine purred to life and sped down the rounded driveway that led away from the school. I turned to face the doors, inhaled a deep breath, and took my first steps inside.
I was immediately greeted with the ringing of a rather large grandfather clock, signaling it was twelve o' clock. The tiled hallway led in front of me with doors on both sides, each marked with a different room number.
I found the school's office after five minutes of searching and approached the secretary. She was a scrawny blonde lady who was typing wildly at her keyboard.
"Hello. I'm a new student." I mumbled unintentionally and shifted my weight.
"Name?" She replied without even a glance up from her computer, or a break in her typing.
"Justin Ryan Matthews." I responded politely. She moved her eyes to my face and smiled.
"Oh hello, and welcome to Chesapeake High!" Her smile stretched from ear to ear, and she started shuffling through what seemed hundreds of papers.
Her sudden burst of happiness was quite a shock to me, considering she seemed busy just moments before. She grabbed a handful and shoved them towards me.
"Since you've came in the middle of the year, you'll have to make up any large assignments that were give while you were gone. In this stack, you will find all of those assignments, along with your dorm room and your class schedule. You may take your bags to your dorm, which is-" She looked through the stack of papers and examined a small slip, "-290B. That is on the second floor, take the steps and make two lefts, and you'll find it."
She then returned the slip to my stack of papers and smiled. I stared at the lady in front of me for a moment, dumbfounded by all the information so quickly.
How she could talk so fast?
She seemed too nice for a front desk lady. I thanked her before walking into the hallway in search of the staircase.
Thankfully, the staircase was fairly close to the front desk, and from there, I followed the instructions she had given me and found 290B. The lights were off, so I turned the knob and walked in. At first glance all four beds in front of mere were unoccupied, that is, until I flipped the light switch.
"What the fuck!" I exclaimed when I saw two boys, both that seemed a bit older than myself, on top of each other making out. They both turned their heads in my direction and rolled their eyes.
"So you're the new kid?" The boy on the bottom asked, his face a dark shade of crimson. I took comfort in the fact that they both had all of their clothes on.
"Uh, yeah. What were you two doing?" I raised my eyebrow and I began to blush as well.
"What? You've never seen two guys kissing before?" The one of the top retorted with a grim smirk on his face. He shuffled off of the other boy and sat on the edge of the bed. I had never seen two guys kissing...it just wasn't something you saw, at all.
"No." I answered flatly, shaking my head. The boy on the bottom had joined the other boy on the edge of the bed and clasped his hand tight. I hoped that someway these two wouldn't be my roommates. "Do you two actually live in here as well?"
"Yes." They replied in unison. "You can take that bed by the way-" One of them pointed to an empty bed in the middle of the rest of the beds "-we share a bed so that one's empty."
I went to the bed and took a seat with a heavy sigh. A voice broke me from my trance and I looked over at them again. "So what's your name?"
"Justin. And yours?" I answered and they both smiled at me. This is starting to get really weird. I shifted uncomfortably on my new bed.
"My name's Michael, I'm 16, and this is my second year here." He had replied calmly, and looked to the other boy, expecting an answer from him as well.
"And my name's Austin, I'm 16, and this is my first year here." Austin giggled and kicked his feet gently against the bed.
"So, you two-" I wiggled a finger between them, "-are together? As boyfriend and...boyfriend?"
"Yeah, got a problem?" Michael asked slightly annoyed while puffing his chest. I noticed that Austin began tensing up right away.
"Oh, no, not at all." I mustered a weak smile and looked around the room.
The four beds were aligned against the wall with a window in the middle. The sun was on the horizon and shone beautifully over the forest that the school was the center of. The door next to me opened without notice, and I jumped in my seat, as another person walked in. He was quite tall and looked very intimidating. The newcomer glanced down at me and smiled warmly. Then, he turned to look at Michael and Austin.
"So this is the new kid, eh?" He asked and they both nodded, and returned his glance to me. "So what's your name?"
"J-J-Justin." I stammered pathetically. I hope he didn't beat me up or something. His hand then fell above my head and he ruffled my hair gently.
"Calm down, there's nothing to be afraid of." He chuckled and fell lazily on top of his bed.
"So you're the last roommate? What's your name?" I questioned gently, hoping he didn't come over or retort sarcastically.
"Yeah, I'm the last one." He laughed gently and let out a long sigh. "And the name's Quinn."
"Nice to meet you, Quinn." I answered without trouble, somewhat assured he wasn't going to hurt me.
He nodded in my direction and I began unpacking my things. I first pulled out my beloved Axe body wash and conditioner, which then reminded me that I needed to take a shower.
"Mind if I take a shower?" I suddenly blurted out.
Quinn looked over his shoulder and muttered "Sure. No problem."
I grabbed my toiletries, a change of clothes and headed for the bathroom. I jumped in and began humming the lyrics to my favorite Nicki Minaj song. I never could do it around my friends -- apparently liking Nicki Minaj was something straight boys weren't allowed to do.
This one is for the boys with the boomin' system -- top down, AC with the cooling system. When he come up in the club, he be blazing up...
I finished my shower sometime later. After emerging from the bathroom with a cloud of steam behind me, Quinn turned and smirked at me. "Nice singing." I didn't even know I was singing that loud. I blushed hard, very embarrassed, and finished unpacking my things. And then it hit me.
How am I going to survive here?
