Chapter 8 - Where'd He Go?

Dinner was painfully awkward tonight. My mom made some amazing meat loaf. My brother completely un-aware of his surroundings, just talked about the newest trick he learned on his skateboard and how his friend almost broke his arm trying to do it and he couldn't find his leather gloves for his bike and bla bla bla. At least there was no awkward silence.

When dinner was over, I went up to my balcony and as per ritual sat out there and waited for Cody. Now that I had cooled down I needed to talk to him.
I waited for 30 minutes. He didn't show up. I know I was mad, but he seriously didn't have the decency to talk to his best friend??? My blood started boil. I can't believe he blew me off. Again. 
I went inside and DMed him.
Rosie39:So u stand me up? Again? R u srs??? 😤😣
As I expected, he didn't reply. Unbelievable. He was acting like such a douche. And to think I took the fall for him!

It has been three days since I've our prank and since I've seen Cody. I have nothing to do at home but go on my computer. My parents took away my TV privileges and grounded me for as long as I got suspended for.
I need to know why Cody's been ignoring me. So even though I know what will happen, I pull out my phone and DM him:
Rosie39: We need to talk. Meet me at the spot at 4 sharp.

I pull up to the woods and enter the spot. It's 3:58. He's always late so I wait.
And wait.
And wait.
And wait.
I can't believe him. I've been waiting here for an hour and 10 minutes.
I know he's not coming, so I drive home.
When I get home, my mom is waiting for me.
"You're grounded! I was so worried! Where were you? Oh when your father finds out he's going to be so upset!"
That's when the tears start to well up. My mom knows I never cry, so when I do, I'm really, really not ok. Immediately her look softened.
"Sweetie, what's wrong? Come up to my room. Let's talk" God thank you for my mom.
When we get upstairs I let it all out. "Mom Cody dragged me into this huge plan and I got caught and he took off and I tried totals to him but he keeps ignoring me and blowing me off and I don't know what to think of my best friend anymore." "Sweetheart, let's go to his house and find out." My mom. My lifesaver.

After I've washed the running makeup off my face we head over. When we knock, Cody's mom answers.
"Rosie, Natasha, come in."
"Hi, we're looking for Cody."
"I'm afraid he's not here right now." Damn it.

As we leave I remember something. Cody's car hasn't been on the driveway. " Mom. Car. Mom mom mom car Cody mom car!!!!!!" 
He hasn't been flaking out. He's missing. And I need to find him.
