It felt like hours had gone by.
Looking up at the clock Layla realized that in fact two hours had passed.
Sighing she ran her hand through her messy red waves.Looking down at the list she realized she had only three more names left.
It took her another 20 minutes to go through all the names and when Layla finally finished she had two separate piles, the one on her right was the pile she believed had that one student that would keep her,her job. With that being said the pile on the left was sadly not that lucky person. They all had talent, but some more than others. Now all that was left was to go through all folders and pick that one lucky student.
Gathering all the files she placed the the ones she believed were the ones she needed to look over again on top vertical and the others were placed at the bottom horizontal.
Layla made her way up to Mrs.Rolhand, all the students had left once Layla interviewed them. She quickly explained to the art teacher that she was done and would look over the files as soon as possible and get back to her.
The TA, Rose had walked Layla out and that's when Layla realized the soft silver string attached to the TA's pinky with sad eyes Layla looked away but a shine brought her attention to Rose's hand once more."You are engaged?" Layla curiously asked.
A soft pink blush crept up roses neck reaching her checks.
" To my highschool sweet heart." Rose longingly looked down at her ring. "The wedding day keeps getting pushed but we are trying to get married this June,it's almost a year away but I've waited this long to be with him I don't mind waiting some more," Rose said with a large smile.
"Congrats," Layla said a bit bitterly " I have to take a look at these now" she raised the files in her arm. "I will contact you when my choice has been made ." And with that Layla grabbed her things and got in a cab, never giving Rose the chance to reply. The cab drove Layla to the office, paying the man she grabbed her things and made her way to and empty conference room.
While she walked through the long hall she tried to think why she was so rude to rose, she seemed like a nice person well she seemed way too nice with her soft blond curls and her lovely blue eyes,Layla couldn't help but be a little jealous of Rose, she seemed to have everything Layla didn't.She had the soft waves while her red hair always seemed nappy.Rose was a good two inches taller than the red head.
The glass door gave a clear view of the empty office, the department has meetings in the office but Layla had checked the to see that nothing was scheduled in for today.
The large brown table and plush black chairs were empty.Sighing Layla pulled up a chair, letting the stack of files fall onto the table. The weight of the files loosened and with the weight gone Layla felt as if a weight was off her shoulders.
For now, she had completed the time-consuming part of separating two groups. Pushing the "no" files to the side she pulled out the files where she believed the one lucky student was.
Twenty minutes later, Layla, had her red hair tied up in a messy bun and had different art work spread out on the large brown table.
She had splayed them out so she was just looking at the art work,no names were visable so that Layla wouldnt feel baised towards any student.Looking through all the drawing infront of her she saw all sorts of drawing and painting but there were a couple that stood out more than other.Gently placing some drawing ontop of eachother she set them apart,Layla kept taking drawings out.
When she was only left with four diffrent drawing she rubbed her temples hoping to clear her mind, two were painting one was a comic drawing and the last one was a portrait.
The two paintings were green landscapes and felid of flowers.Carefully looking over the artworks Layla came to discussion, one that she hoped would save her job.
