As I strolled through the gates of St Johns Academy, I couldn't help but wander why I was here. To be perfectly honest I could do so much in life without qualifications. Why my mother feels the need to send me to this hellhole that they call "school" is beyond me.

Unlike most typical secondary schools -well I say typical it's more so the fictional ones - we don't have "cliques" or "social ladders" for people to climb. You could say that the people here are "nice" if you like people that spend time slagging each other off then, sure.

We don't have lockers like some schools which means that we have to lug our bags around with us wherever we go;Mondays are the worst days and not just because it's Monday but because we have P.E on Mondays period 2. As I already said,we have to carry our stuff around everywhere.

Walking through the doors leading to the humanities block, I am instantly greeted by the sound of loud chatter. Although there are no cliques, it is very clear to see who the right people to hang around are.

As I scan the yard for my friends, I feel a heavy force on my back almost causing me to topple over with the extra weight.

"Get off me, you fat blob," I groaned attempting to adjust the human on my back into a more comfortable position without breaking anything.

"Why do you always have to be so rude, like seriously, you have no manners." Kara scolds whilst hopping off my back.

"I have no manners?" I exclaimed regarding her with wide eyes."That's a shocker coming from the weirdo who jumps on random people,I could've hit you or dropped you to your death or something."

Kara Sien. I should have know she would be the only weirdo that would do that.

She's not quite a girly girl but she isn't a complete tomboy. She's black but a couple of shades lighter than me. She has shoulder length black hair that has very n straightened and now looks light, compared to her natural kinky locks. She's pretty and can do makeup like Van Gogh can paint. She's a natural.
She's one of my closest friends since our mums know each other.

"Typical Jazz, always got to be so extra and exaggerate everything." Kara responded whilst rolling her made up eyes.

I was about to respond to her obviously ludicrous accusation when the shrill sound of the movement bell resounding over the yard interrupted me. With a wave goodbye we parted ways making our journeys to form.

As I walked up the mountain that people like to call "stairs", my foot got stuck on the stair causing me to fall down the mountain.

In my defence there are lifts in this school that could've been used to prevent this but it was only available to staff. Basically in the end it is the teachers who are responsible for the pain and agony I have had to endure.

Of track here.

Well as I witnessed my whole highly uneventful life flash before my eyes, I fell 100 feet down the mountain at an alarming rate.

Strong arms wound around my waist stopping my life threatening decent. After realising that I was still alive I turned around to express my undeniable gratitude towards this guy.

Turning around I came face to face with Jackson Morgan or better known as Jay.

"You seriously just fell down the stairs?"He asks raising a perfectly plucked eyebrow. The thing with Jay is that he's hot yet doesn't know it but do not ever make the mistake of saying I like him.

We've been mates since year 1 when he and his mum had moved here from Alabama. He lost his accent through the years but his mum's is still pretty thick.

"Er, yeah?" I stated in a duh tone that made it seem like I thought he was dumb."This mountain has been standing in my way for the past 4 years and I still haven't managed to climb it without toppling to my death!"

Letting go of me, he took a step back assessing me on the stairs.

After a moment of him staring at me I got pissed."WHAT?!"

Unfazed he said,"you do realise that you only made it up two steps, right?" He stated attempting to hide his obvious amusement.

Stunned I looked down and realised that I had only made it up the first two stairs before making my grand decent.I could feel my face heating up at the level of embarrassment that had settled on me. Looking up I scoffed at him.

"Well I could have died and now I know that you would have just stood and laughed at me." Huffing out a breath I turned on my heels and started to make a more graceful climb up Mount Agony all the while Jay stood at the base of the stairs still dying with laughter.

"You are so dramatic,Jazz." He hollered after my retreating back as I reached for the door.

Walking through the doors that lead to form I was greeted by the sound of the second bell ringing signaling the start of form and classes for today.
