The rain dropped like bombs throughout England, people walking at a brisk pace, trying to get to where they wanted to be. But there was one girl, one whom wasn't in a rush to get to somewhere; danced in the rain, letting it pour around her.
Her name was a mystery. Who is she? Why is she playing in the rain? I felt the sudden urge go to her and ask her name. Maybe after the rain dies down. I thought pinning all my attention towards her. Soon enough the rain slowed down to a drizzle but just like that she vanished into the sea of busy people. A frown tugged my lips as I lost my chance to ever learn her name.
"Daniel! Daniel!" I turned to face an annoyed Anthony. "Yes?" I replied, uninterested. What does he want now? He lets out a frustrated sigh, running his hands through his blonde messy hair. "I said, would you like to drink tea?" Never liked tea. I thought gruffly. "Coffee is much better." I paused. "But I guess it wouldn't hurt." And with that we walked across the street to a cafe named 'Cynefin Café'. As we entered the place, the smell of brewing coffee, baked pastry and freshly made tea filled my senses; it felt like home. The place was amazing.
"Can we sit near the window?" I asked Anthony while staring at a table for two near the window. "And why is that?" Anthony said while walking to the counter to order.
"Two reasons: 1 its more peaceful and 2 its nice outside." I shrugged. I heard him mumble a 'fine' and with that I walked towards the table and sat there waiting for Anthony. "Uh, I have to take a number 1." Anthony said and excused himself. Who was she? I need to know her name before I lose it. I mean, why would she be dancing---in the pouring rain and seem to enjoy it---anyway? Will I ever see her again?
"--ir. Sir!" My thoughts were then pulled back into reality. "Uhh, yes?" I stupidly asked. "Your friend left 10 minutes ago. He had sent me to tell you he was late for something." I nodded, understandingly. "Had he paid?" He nodded and left. Greeeeat, he left me here alone. I let out a frustrated sigh. "May I sit with you?" A feminine voice rang through my head.
I turned to see a girl with jet black hair which was a bit curly. She had a pale complexion but her lips and cheeks were as rosy as ever but, that hadn't caught my attention. What caught my attention was her eyes. They were the most beautiful shade of hazelnut brown ever. That's when I realized I was staring at an angel. "Uh. S-sure." I replied lamely. Idiot. Now she'll think you're stupid and lame. I sighed and hung my head down, playing with my tea. I heard her laugh lightly, making me blush. "Thank you love." I only nodded not daring to face her. After a minute of silence I heard her groan.
"Is there something wrong, Miss?" I asked, her face cringed showing she was either disgusted or frustrated. She looked up at me and shook her head, her curls lightly swaying as she did. "No, its just I ordered coffee but I don't even like coffee." She chuckled. "So stupid." I heard her mumble. I was amused by this.
"I'm Daniel"
"Autumn"
Won't you stay til the A.M.
All my favourite conversations
Always made in the A.M.I lightly drum my fingers on the table and hummed the familiar song I have came to love. She looked up at me with an amused smile.
"You know this song?" She said, pointing at the air. I only nodded. "Well that's different most usually men would scuff at them." I chuckled and smiled. "That's the point. You said most."
She returned the smile and looked out the window.
Cause we don't know what we're saying
We're just swimming 'round our glasses
Talking out of our arses
Like we are all gonna make it"Isn't rainy days wonderful?" She sighed, a small smile tugging at her lips as her stare was fixated on what was on the outside of the Café. And then it hit me, maybe this was she. The girl dancing in the rain. "Yeah it is." I have to take a risk. "If it wasn't for the rain I wouldn't have met her." She turned to face me, confusion written on her beautiful face. "Her?" "The girl that was dancing in the rain. I knew the moment I saw her my heart started going boom." She laughed lightly, her eyes closed as she covered her mouth with her fingers. "I'm sorry but you don't know a thing about her."
"Maybe I don't, but my heart sure does." I stated calmly. "And now I'm facing her." Her eyes widened as if she saw death herself.
You know,
I'm always gonna look for this place
You know, and I said
You know,
I'm always gonna look for your face
You know"How did you..." This time it was my turn to laugh lightly. "The heart knows what the mind doesn't." She smiled whole-heartedly as I offered her my hand. "Can I have this dance?" She took my hand and smiled, taking that as a yes, we went out of the place and danced on the wet pavement. Storm clouds began to roll out again but it didn't bother us because all we cared about was each other. Yeah, how we met was a little fast and sudden but we couldn't care less. I have finally met the girl of my dreams and I hope she felt the same. Because on a rainy day---this day to be exact, love was at my doorstep.
