My gang and I
Rustling and bustling
Walkin' through the alleyway
Because sticks and stones
Can break your bones
And we will show
No mercy
A stray walks through our alleyway
Or a gal tries to take a shortcut
The perfect target
Of my gang and I
And we will show
No mercy
It's fun to beat
This mangled city dog
'Til his eyes bleed red
And his limbs collapse
For my gang and I show
No mercy
But when Blue Eyes showed
As we were taking some pretty girl
She walked by and said
"You know, you're probably going to ruin her life.
And the strange thing is
She'll probably keep the baby
Because that baby did no harm
And she will love that baby
With no thanks to you"
And with that, Blue Eyes walked off
By a weeks time, no more
Girls were taken
And my gang and I showed
A little mercy
We were sittin' in our alleyway
Heard a group of puppies in a box
Well we got some stones for ammo
But when Blue Eyes showed
As we were throwin' those stones
She walked by and said
"In the U.S. alone
Over 20 million animals die
Simply because their owners have
No use for them
And the strange thing is
Those animals are still willing
To let humans into their heart
With no thanks to you"
And with that, she walked off
And so, no more did we throw
Those sanded stones
And my gang and I showed
Some mercy
We'd been sticking to that of
Shoplifting and stick ups
And we had cornered this guy
Had a pretty hefty wallet
But when Blue Eyes showed
As we had a knife to his neck
She walked by and said
"Every year
2 million kids are arrested
Sent to Juvie Hall and worse
And the strange thing is
Only 5% committed violent crimes
The other 95%, their lives get ruined
And here you are
What good are you?"
And with that
We showed mercy
I was a good kid
During that of high school
Got good grades, good food
But during it all
I wanted to see
The girl with blue eyes
Just once more
Graduated in the year of '93
Studying for the SAT
Even though I could only think
Of her
But with all my searching
All my strength
I could not find
The girl with blue eyes
And then it came to me
She only came when I was bad
When I was doing what was wrong
She came
So college was skipped
So Blue Eyes would return
A year passed by
Robberies, kidnappings, runoffs
Never was I caught
But my heart grew angrier
For Blue Eyes never came
The next girl was killed
Left naked in a lake
And another
And another---
Homicide
The year of 2004
A ten year anniversary
Never was I caught
And never did she come
But I saw a picture
On a store window
So I asked
"What is her name?"
He said
"She don't got one"
But I would not be deterred
From the girl with blue eyes
"Where does she live?"
"She don't"
Responded he
"She died in 1994
Was murdered she was
Murdered by you"
For I gave away
My conscience with blue eyes
