I was sitting alone in the café writing. No one noticed my off behavior. Even if they did they wouldn't care. I'm  just the geek hardly anyone likes. Most everyone ignores me and my books. I'm never partnered up with someone when there's anything to do with groups. But that's all okay. After all, I do have my books and my laptop. I picked up my citrus green tea latte and took a sip. Again, I'm the odd geeky dork hardly anyone likes. I'm always out of place. Especially at home. My family's embarrassed because of how I look, act, and speak. That's their problem though. I am who I am and I love being me.

I finished writing my latest story and smiled. This story was about the death of someone called Mr. Do-gooder. It takes place in a city called Quake. Mr. Do-gooder was a scientist who was studying the possibility of an afterlife. His partner was actually a mass murderer. I think you know what happens from there. There's more after his partner kills him though. Mr. Do-gooder's daughter continues his work without help.

"Hey. How's it going?"

I looked up and looked around.

"Yeah. I'm talking to you, Alexandria."
I rolled my eyes. "You know very well that I like being called Alex. What do you even want, Echo?"
Echo grinned. "How about.... hmmm.... you?"
I laughed. "You're bad at flirting, Shadows."
He rolled his eyes. "Seriously, Summers? You're one to talk. Hey, you know about the school dance?"
"Of course I know about the school dance."
Echo blushed a bit, but I pretended not to notice. "A-are you going with anyone?"
I shook my head slowly. "Nobody likes me enough to ask me. And I'm not that interested in going to dances anyways. I'm the kind of girl who'd rather stay home and write or draw."
Echo looked down. "Y-yeah. O-of course."
I frowned. "Why do you ask though?"
He looked up. "I was wondering if you'd maybe like to go with me...?"

I looked over at a corner table next to a window where Mystery and the rest of her band was sitting. Echo followed my gaze.

"She doesn't really know how I feel about her... But! But I like you more!"
I looked back up at Echo. "You like me?"
He nodded slowly. "Y-yeah."
I shrugged. "Alright. I'll go to the dance with you. This doesn't mean I like you though." I sipped my citrus green tea latte and shrugged. "Isn't Mystery and her band playing at the dance?"
Echo looked up. "Shoot! We are. Uhhmmm... I'll dance with you when we get off the stage?"
"Yeah. Alright. Still doesn't mean I like you."

He shrugged and Mystery and the rest walked over to us.
Mystery looked down at me and smiled slightly. "Hello, Alex. We're going to practice. Want to come?"
Echo nodded.
I smiled. "Sure. Hey, do you guys mind if I write a story about your band?"
Mystery shrugged. "That's fine with us. Last time some jerk wrote trash about us though."
Violet piped up. "It was Cassy. She always does stuff like that."
Mystery waved the statement away. "Let's go."

We all got our stuff and walked to- I actually can't remember where we walked to. I think it was the base where Alex, Cole, and Mystery live.
