Hello guys it's Seraphina here and I have never been the "popular type" but everyone thinks that is a lie. Well, I mean, only people who first see me. I have long brown hair that hits to my mid-back , tan skin, skinny (but not athletic), blue eyes, you name it. I was shy and more confined than most kids in this orphanage. I don't mind being one of the quieter ones. My sister, Faye, is by my side the whole way and I'm glad she is. There's nothing I would do without her. I mean for now she is. Today is "choosing day" and today is the day when we find out who leaves and who stays.
Year 4 at the orphanage
"Hey Phia, how are you today?" Faye asked.
"Could be better" I replied. I was scared about the choosing. Faye was once adopted but was returned later that year. I, on the other hand, have never been adopted. Everyone looks at me with disgust and hatred. It's a bit nerve racking. I find it calming after awhile considering I don't have to meet new people and learn more people's names. I find it hard getting close to a family knowing they could easily take you back to the orphanage the next day for no reason.
"You okay Phia?"
"Yeah just a headache. Hey when is the choosing going on today?"
"2:30. I thought you new that. Are you sure you're okay? You can tell me anything Phia."
"Yeah I did know that. I'm just kinda wanting not to go downstairs. I sometimes like not being chosen. It gets hard sometimes though."
"Yeah I understand that. It's hard knowing people don't want you...but hey, think of it this way, you are given chances to be picked by the right person."
"GIRLS ITS 2:30 TIME FOR THE CHOOSING!!!" Mrs. Malley yelled.
As we all lined up we see the lovely couple looking to adopt we see the wife walk around while the husband stays back. She asks all of us questions; like what our ages are, what our favorite colors are....things like that. When she went back to her husband they start making quiet conversation. The husband nods and the wife turns around and smiles.
"So Mr and Mrs. Davis have you made your decision?" Mrs. Malley asked.
"Yes we have. Originally we wanted only one child. After looking around and asking all of you a few questions we have made our decision on two girls who will be coming home." The wife said
"We have decided to go with Seraphina and Faye as our new addition to the family." The husband added to his wife's statement.
I didn't process what they had just said until Faye tapped on my shoulder to go get packed. I didn't understand why me. I'm glad I get to leave this place with Faye. It's been a lifelong dream to be in a family with her. It would be a bigger dream to have me, Faye, and our unknown sister in the same house and same family, but that's a far off reach of a dream and I doubt it'll ever happen. I'm still trying to process what had happened. Before I knew it, Faye and I were at the stairs. She stopped me to look at me. She was telling me a story but without using words. She was worried about something but wouldn't say. She ended up turning around and walking up the stairs and to our room. After we got to our room and we start packing. I pack all of my clothing and belongings and it included a worn yellow sunny dress, some pajamas, headphones, and my iPod. Faye packed pretty much the same things but different colors. Before we walked downstairs I looked at Faye.
"You know what would be a dream come true?"
"What's that?" Faye responds.
I pull out the picture of Faye, myself, and the unknown sister of ours, "If we could meet her and be with her again."
"Don't get too crazy. There's more than a billion people in this world. She could be in China for all we know." Faye responds and starts walking downstairs which signaled to me that she was done with this conversation.
As soon as we get downstairs I see Mrs. Malley look at both of us but almost had real tears at the fact I actually got adopted.
"Have fun at your new home girls!" Mrs. Malley said.
I wanted to say something to the girls glaring at me. Faye elbowed me and glared at me and I shut my mouth before I said anything. That didn't stop me from smirking at them. Some of those girls have been there since before I was dropped off.
"You girls ready to go?" Asked the husband.
"Yup all ready." Faye answered for us.
As I look at the husband and wife I see something familiar. Similar faces, same jawline as Faye and I have, brown hair that naturally gets lighter at the bottom, the husbands eyes were as blue as the ocean. I look at Faye and she is still studying them.
"I noticed you have a picture of three girls in your pocket, Seraphina. Want to tell us about it?" The husband asked me once we got in their vehicle. Must be rich, I thought to myself
"It was a picture that my sisters and I got when we were all born and were separated at birth. Sadly I only know Faye. The other sister is unknown to both Faye and myself." I told him.
"I bet you would do anything to see her, wouldn't you, Seraphina?" The wife asked.
"Of course I would. It has been a lifelong dream to meet her and be in a family with her and Faye. Especially Faye since she has been my rock since I first met her." I replied to her.
The husband and wife looked at each other with smiles of joy. There was no more conversation between Faye and I and the husband and wife. They were talking small talk. It was too quiet for me or Faye to hear. I don't know why she was asking about the picture. It's never interested anyone before.
"Seraphina, Faye, I asked about the picture because I knew your mother. She was my sister in high school. Before an unfortunate event that ended her life and you father's life. I was there when you three were born. You're the oldest, Seraphina. Faye, you're three minutes younger than your sister. The youngest was born 2 minutes after Faye. Your mother named her Amity." The wife told us.
"Why are you telling us this?" Faye asked with loads of attitude but with a lot of questions splattered across her face.
"I thought you'd like to meet her." The wife respond

Sorry about another notification about this chapter guys!! I'm currently working on updating these more since I'm in 11th grade and not 8th grade when these were created so I'm working on changing all the books in this series (and quite possibly turning it all into one book and not four). So I apologize!! This chapter is now done being updated, I promise. Don't give up hope in me yet guys!! But, I am thinking on only having one book for this instead of four because of there only being like 4-5 chapters in each book smh. So let's see what happens.
Also, expect these chapters to change.....A L O T I'm changing basically the whole story line in them.
