Mental illness should be accepted like any other physical illness.
Rose: I don't get why people don't accept mental illness like any other physical illness. Mental illness can be just as bad, sometimes even worse than physical illness.
Ben: Mental illness is not that big of a deal. It doesn't even kill.
Rose: It does kill, just not in the same way. I had a friend who was dealing with depression. One day he just couldn't handle it anymore and jumped in front of a train. It didn't even end up on any newspaper.
Ben: Why would it? Its not like it was important. He didn't die for anything, or to save someone. He just died, people die everyday.
Rose: That doesn't make his death unimportant. Every death is important, especially when we can learn from them.
Ben: What can we learn from a guy jumping in front of a train for no good reason?
Rose: We can learn from why he jumped. We can learn ways to stop people from doing what he did. Or at least make more people aware of the dangers that come with come with mental illness.
Ben: There are more important things to worry about. Like cancer, wars, and learning ways to help people with hunger, or any other physical illness. They are just way more important than something that goes on in someone else's head.
Rose: Yes I see your point, but mental illness is just as important. Why do you make it sound like their insane?
Ben: Because they are! Any sane person wouldn't jump in front of a moving train! Why do you care so much?
Rose: Because it runs in my family! I see people going through mental illness everyday. I see people ignore it, bully people for it, or just straight out not acknowledge it. I have seen it get too much for them, so they start to hurt themselves, in more ways than one.
Ben: Well if their not insane, then why don't they just seek help. It's what any sane person would do.
Rose: Some do seek help, but it's usually a long and hard battle. Those that don't are just afraid. They don't want to be a burden, or get bullied, or judged.
Ben: That just makes them idiots. How can they get help if their just going to keep silent about it.
Rose: Just because they don't tell you, doesn't mean it doesn't show. Family members and close friends should be able to tell just by looking at them. Just making them smile is all the help they need. If people just became more aware of mental illness, and treated it like any other physical illness. Then there will be lesser people jumping in front of train, or people hurting themselves in anyway.
