Emma's POV
"Mommy! I love this new house! Can I have the bedroom with the window seat? Please please please pretty please?!" I screeched, running around the house, clutching my teddy bear to my chest.
"Wow Em, I never thought a 3-year-old would have so much energy... Of course, you can honey," she replied.
"THANKS MOMMY!" I screeched.
I ran up the stairs to my new bedroom, running past all of the moving people. Once I got there, I plopped myself onto the floor and admired my future room, planning where everything would go and all that jazz. My older brother, Luke then came in and asked: "Is this your new bedroom?". "Yeah it is! Do you like it?" I asked. "Of course. My room is actually right next to yours... Wanna see it? He said. "YEAH!" I exclaimed. We both went to his room and I have to say, I really like it. While we were on our way downstairs, the doorbell rang. A woman around twenty-six years old stood at the door when mommy open it.
"Hi! My name is Betty! I live in the house right next to you and I just wanted to welcome you the neighborhood. Unfortunately, my husband is in the Emergency Room and my son is too busy playing at our house with his action figures." Betty says, handing mom a tray with food in it. "Oh my gosh what happened to your husband? Is he ok?" my mom rushed. "He's fine, far from injured. He's a surgeon, so he got an unexpected call in today for an emergency surgery," she replied. "It's the same thing with my husband, he's also a surgeon. He now has a job at Milton Hospital." My mom replies. "So does my husband! Wow, they must know each other. Why don't you come over for sometime after you have finished unpacking. You can send your kids now..." she trailed off, not wanting to sound weird. "Sure, that would be great, not having them run around, causing chaos." she sighed with relief. "Ok guys let's go! Emma, how old are you?" she asks. "I'm this many years old," I reply, holding up three fingers. "Wow, my son is also your age, he's this many as well..." She holds up three fingers while laughing. "And Luke, how old are you?" she questions. "I'm eight years old Mrs. Williams," he replies politely. "Oh! No need to call me Mrs. Williams, you can call my Betty." waving her hand, as if to clear the air of informality.
"Caleb will you please come here for a second? I would like to introduce you to our new neighbors..." She yells into the house. Not even a minute later, a little brown haired, blue eyed boy around my age came bounding down the stairs, holding a toy plane. He was making those whooshing noises through his mouth that planes make. When he saw me, he stopped dead in his tracks. "Who are they mommy?" He questioned. "They are our new neighbors. This is Emma," She said pointing to me, "And this is Luke, her older brother." pointing at Luke. His face changed from confusion to excitement in a nanosecond. "Why don't you show them around the house while I get some lemonade and cookies." Betty suggested. "C'mon, I'm gonna show you my room. It's really cool." He excitedly stated, while dragging me and my brother up the steps. Once he was done showing us his whole entire house, we finally made it into the kitchen just in time to get cookies. After we ate some cookies and drank some lemonade, Caleb whispered "I want to show you something else. It's my favorite place in the whole world." Taking me by the hand, he ran outside into is backyard and climbed onto a rock that was at the edge of the forest. We sat next to each other in a comfortable silence and stared at the meadow and forest. After some time, Caleb said "We are going to be the best of friends!" "I agree. Promise to never keep secrets and always tell each other everything." I claimed. We both shook hands on that and continued to play.
