Hi, my name is Victoria Clark.

I am 15 years old, I was born and raised in Bamburg Ontario, Canada. I live here with my younger siblings John, James, Abby,my parents Jackie and William and last but not least my grandmother Darlene. We live in a quiet neighborhood just outside of town where everyone knows everybody.

I attend St. Henery's Private School, it's not an overly big school there may be about 400-500 students who attend. There are multiple teachers that I would like to thank for helping me get through the rough patches in my life. I would also like to thank my best friend for being by my side 100% of the way, I know we've been through so much together but that just makes our friendship that much stronger. You know how the old saying goes 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger'.

Now I'm going to take you back a few years in my past, It starts off when i was a year and a half, I may have been young but I remember this vividly. My mind works in weird ways, so here we go.

When I was a little over a year old I was taped to a wall and had knives thrown at me, I was used as 'Target Practice' by my mom's boyfriend Herley, when she wasn't home.. My mom never knew he was like this, he had never let his 'Dark side' out when she was around. It was like he was a criminal who knew his way around not being caught.

It was a few days before my birthday and all through the house you could hear my little screams for help, he was at it again.. Only this time he nicked a bit of my skin, a little drop of blood fell from my ear to the floor. It sounded so loud to my tiny ears as if I was walking down an empty corridor, the noises grew louder and louder until I couldn't bare to hear it any longer.. As I laid there shaking in fear I start to cry heavily a split second later I heard a knock at the door, it must of been someone important because he quickly pulled me off the wall and threw the duct tape in the garbage. He quickly ran to the bathroom and cleaned me up, the person at the door grew impatient and knocked a bit louder as if he was a police officer.

Harley picked me up with an incredible speed and ran down the stairs, still holding me in his arms with a fatherly embrace as he opened the door. He gestured for the man to come in and have a seat, he sat me down in my chair with some toys to keep me occupied for the time being. It was a good half hour or so that went by and I was hungry, I started squealing so I would get his attention a few moments passed before he got up off his chair and grabbed a bottle out of the fridge. Harley walked passed me to heat up the bottle in the microwave, I heard a bing and I knew it was my bottle all ready for me to drink. I started squirming in excitement, throwing my hands in the air and waving them around.

Once he started walking toward me I calmed down so that he wouldn't get mad, he picked me up and held me in his arms for a few seconds before he gave me the bottle. My mouth was so dry and pasty I couldn't hold back any longer, I started chugging my milk it tasted so good to my parched mouth. After I finished Harley burped me and layed me down for a nap. I woke up an hour or so later with my mom standing in the doorway looking over me. She looked so happy her smile went from ear to ear. I crawled over to the side of the crib and stood myself up and put my hands in the air to let her know I wanted to be held. She walked over and put the side of the crib down and picked me up. She held me with this amazing embrace, I felt so safe the scent of her skin calmed me. A minutes of dead silence passed, I was startled when my mom started yelling for Harley. She walked out if the room as he was walking up the stairs, she pointed to my ear and said "What the fuck is this?!?" he looked at my ear "Oh, we went to the park and she scraped her head on the concrete when she was crawling around" he responded calmly. My mom looked closely and said "Harley, thats bull shit it looks like a slit a knife would make" he looked surprised that she knew what it was but he thought he would be smart and stick with his story. Later that day my mom took me to the doctor, I was sick again for the third time this month. We waited there for about an hour or so before our name was called, mom picked me up and walked to the room the doctor was in. The doctor checked my vitals and when he looked at my ear he went wide eyed with his jaw dropped. He fiddled around with my ear for a bit before he looked at my mom and said " Your daughter needs stitches, the wound is deep". My mom's facial expression went from mildly happy to pissed in the matter of a few seconds, she looked down then back up and replied "I don't know how this happened my boyfriend said they went to the park and she fell on the pavement" she gulped as she waited for a response, the doctor looked back at my ear then turned around and confronted my mother. "Jackie, that wound is not from falling on the pavement... It looks more like something pointy pierced her ear. I would talk this over with him, it sounds like he's lying about something" she knew he was lying from the start, she just needed proof that she can confront him with. She looked back up at the doctor and said "I knew he was lying i just didn't want to start a fight, I don't like Victoria hearing us fight it's not good for her".

The doctor looked confused but he shrugged it off and said "I understand Ms. Clark but she can't keep living in an environment like this, she's going to grow up and not be able to control her anger and I know you don't want that.. She's a beautiful little girl and she deserves to grow up and live an amazing life, you know that's what's best for her". My mom looked like she was about to cry, I hate seeing her like that I know I may only be young but i still have feelings.. There's a lot of things I can't help but at least I try and help the situation, I looked back at my mom and started giggling maybe that will cheer her up. She started smiling and got up and started playing with me while she was talking to the doctor, after a few minutes of silence she responded with a short breath "I know, I want her to grow up and be able to be the best she is, I want her to not make the same mistakes that I've made.. They ruined my life and i can't get those 9 years back, I don't want her around drugs, bad people or in the wrong part of town. I want her to grow up and never follow down the path i went through It's hard enough that when i was pregnant with her that her real dad tried to kill her by throwing me out of the car while we were on the highway, the only reason why Victoria and I are here today is because the seatbelt saved us".
