Levi's POV
When I opened my eyes, I saw -who I assumed was- my parents leaning over my crib and smiling. Time went by fast, and soon I was old enough to start kindergarten but still, I was very small even for my age.
-- six years old--
On Monday, mama woke me up and helped me get ready for school while daddy made breakfast. I pulled on my large, long sleeved, white sweater and stepped into my black jeans.
After I put on my socks, Mama helped me tie my shoes then we made our way down to the kitchen for breakfast.
Daddy greeted mama with a kiss on the cheek and ruffled my hair.
"You hungry, Levi?"
Yes.
"No."
I said, playing with the hem of my shirt.
Mama sighed, picked me up, and sat down with me on her lap. "Mama I'm not-"
"Baby, I know you say you aren't hungry, but you could die if you don't eat!"
Looking down, I pick at some loose threads on mama's apron.
Silence filled the room like hazy smoke fills a bar, and Mikasa cleared her throat.
"A boy in his class said that he was fat a few months ago, mama."
Daddy cursed and slammed his fist down on the table, making me and mama jump.
"Why didn't you tell us Levi?! This has gone too far!"
I shake, feeling tears threatening to escape, and they did.
Daddy gets up and walks over to me and mama, dropping to his knees so he was face to face with me.
He sucks in a deep breath and wraps his hand around my much smaller one, looking me straight in the eyes.
"Levi, buddy, I'm sorry.. It's just..no child your age should have to worry abo-"
Suddenly he fell, mama screamed and jumped up with me in her arms over to Mikasa.
The back door was kicked open, and three men rushed in with weapons of some sort.
"Mama!!"
I screamed when two of the men grabbed me and Mikasa and started to drag us away,
Mama fought with all her might, but she couldn't fight the bullet that went through her head. Some of her blood hit my face, and I thrashed around in the man's arms.
This man was too strong for me, a six year old , to take on by myself.
After a few struggles , I gave up with trying escape this man's powerful grip and just wailed loudly like the cry baby I am.
These men dropped us off at our school, when the kids were waiting outside for the teachers to let them in.
Mikasa grabbed my hand and ran towards the school, yelling for our teacher.
The school yard, once thriving with excited children, was now quiet with an adult rushing towards us.
All the children were looking at us fearfully as we made a mad dash for the door, except for a boy running alongside the adult.
"What on earth happened? Are you two okay?!"
"Yes, we're fine but-"
"Mama and daddy need help!"
I cut off Mikasa frantically, with tears streaming down my cheeks.
The boy who was standing beside the teacher wrapped his arms around me, and I clung to his shirt while the teacher took Mikasa in to talk to the police officers who would be here shortly.
"I'm Erwin, what's your name?"
The boy -Erwin- asked, still holding on to me.
"Levi.."
I mumbled into his chest, and his arms tightened around my waist.
--seven years old--
Mikasa and I were put into a foster home shortly after our parents murderers were found.
Our foster parent was a plump, middle aged woman with long blonde hair and pretty blue eyes.
She even had a son of her own- Armin.
We quickly grew attached to them, and started calling the woman 'mom' and Armin 'brother',
Sometimes now and again I think about my real parents and get a little sad, but I know that these people will be with me through thick and thin.
-- fifteen years old--
"Levi, get up!"
I groan as Armin shakes my shoulder.
"Go away, Armin."
"No, you need to get up or we'll be late. You can't afford to be late!"
My eyes shot open as I remembered that Erwin would take us out for lunch today.
"We're eating out with Erwin for lunch!"
I jumped out of bed quickly and threw on some black skinny jeans, an oversized baby blue sweater, and my mint green converse high tops.
"You get out of bed for him but not me? I'm hurt, Levi!"
Amin pretends to be offended, placing a hand dramatically over his heart.
"Shut up, you big baby."
I rolled my eyes in annoyance, but couldn't help but give a small smile.
"Getting ready for your date with Erwin?"
Mikasa asked, leaning against the wooden door frame with a smirk.
"Ha ha, Mikasa."
"Come on, we're gonna be late!"
Armin persisted once more, and to appease him, we slung our backpacks over our shoulders, followed him down the stairs and out the front door- but not before saying goodbye to mom.
"Have a good day!"
She called just seconds before Mikasa closed the front door behind her.
"Ugh I'm so not excited for today! We have to get examined today. We're the last ones, I think."
I cocked an eyebrow, genuinely surprised that I hadn't heard about this beforehand.
"Nobody told me about this.."
The two of them look at me like they're up to something, and Mikasa shrugs her shoulder while Armin stretches his arms above his head.
"Really?! Ah, well I guess now you know.."
Giving him a skeptical look, I played along with their little joke .. Only, it turned out to be completely true.
We walk in the school and I'm greeted by Erwin, who messes up my hair.
"Ugh, Erwin stahp!"
I whine, trying to duck his big hand but instead I just bump into the person behind me.
Looking over my shoulder and upward a bit, I see the person that I didn't want to see at the moment.
"Watch where you're going, levi!"
Eren sneered, shoving his way between me and Erwin.
On his way past me, though, he slapped my ass! The sound of his hand making contact with my rear end was loud enough for all four of us to hear, and Erwin looked pissed.
He tried to follow after him, but I held him back saying that it wasn't a big deal.
I was given a skeptical look but Erwin didn't do anything too stupid.
"God, he's such an ass to you, huh Levi?"
Our friend Sasha said as we approached our first period- gym.
"Yeah, why is he?"
Armin asked curiously, leaning against the wall next to the door.
"He wanted me to fuck him but I didn't want to so I beat his ass."
The three of them laughed, and Armin and Erwin excused themselves to walk to class before they got written up.
"I heard some kid transferred to this class."
"Really?"
Me and Mikasa begin talking about stupid rumors that have been circling around the school, but I stop listening when I see the gym teachers giving Eren his gym outfit.
He sees me looking his way and winks, not knowing that Mikasa was there too.
Mikasa glared daggers at him, grabbing my hand and dragging me outside into the hallway.
"Levi, if you see him, come find me ok?"
She asks, looking back at me while still walking.
"Sure. Where are we going, Mikasa?"
"We're going to wait for the others by the tree. I've sent them a group text, don't worry."
I nod, thinking back to earlier today when Erwin gave me that look .
--
Just thinking about him made my heart flutter, and I was so absorbed in thought that I didn't react to the grip on my wrist until it was too late.
"Hey, Levi! Is it too late to ask for a quickie?"
Before I could really do anything, Mikasa jumped on Eren while throwing punches.
"Mikasa! Eren, fucking Stop!"
I yelled as Eren punched Mikasa in the stomach, and I tried to pull them off of each other.
Eren ended up grabbing my neck and pinning me up against the lockers.
"ERWIN! ARMIN!"
He smiled, as Erwin and Armin came charging out of their classrooms along with many teachers.
"I'll see you later, Levi."
