Prologue
I love the sound of the ocean a night it is the only place where I can feel free and I can clearly think about everything that has happened to me. The waves are like a soft sounding choir beautiful and in tune. The sand beneath my feet, heaven, it’s like I’m lying on a soft fluffy cloud, I am calm and silent. Until I hear the tone in my uncle’s voice as he yells from his beach house “Jenny come quick it’s Jayden his been bitten”. I rush inside without a single thought the first thing that I see when I emerge into the door is Jayden lying on the floor surrounded by a pool of blood. My attention is quickly caught by the large beast, whose mouth is covered with red. I can tell it is threatened by my statue, its quick reaction to escape through the glass window is sudden and hurried suddenly my reflex’s kick in and I cover my head with my bear arm. I can hear the crash of the window it sounds like sharp nails digging into a chalk board. I try to catch another glimpse as the beast escapes but all I see are large shards of glass flying through the air covering its escape.
I shake my head, trying to return back into reality, reminding myself that the possibility of werewolves is zero and it’s stupid to think that Jayden has just been bitten by one. I return to him trying to apply pressure to his wound.
I can feel my blood rush through my veins and my heart pumps so fast it feels that it is coming out of my chest. My uncle returns with two strange men in uniform, he directs them to where he is. I step back and with that step it was as if I was stepping back into large, sharp pokers piercing my skin with their teeth. I was breathless and speechless as was as if no words could fill me.
We all rush into the large red box which just maybe could stabilize him until we reached the hospital. My breath was caught I tried to speak, I tried to tell them but I was like a car stuck in mud, engine on, trying to move but not going anywhere.
We reached the hospital doors; we had beaten them down like lumber jacks cutting down a tree. We tried to move as swiftly as possible, but for me the pace was too slow.
I tried to reach for his hand, I noticed the pain in his dark eyes, but before my hand could reach a swarm of scrubs surrounded him like fresh bait. They spoke in code, barely audible. Suddenly the memories of us came flooding back to me filling my eyes with tears.
