I don't really like my last name, can I have yours

That was the first thing she said to me

Sure, why not

That was the first thing we shared

We shared long nights under the moonlight

Our emptiness coming together to make an endless pool of loneliness but it was okay

Because zero to the zeroth power is one

We made something out of nothing while the waves licked our toes

We shared our hurt and marveled at how much our wounds resembled each other

We were like broken pieces of the same soul

Separated for so long we almost forgot how we fit together

Almost

But things like this don't remain in your memory

They're etched into the very fabric of your being

We shared a pool of our tears before sharing a bed

I can't swim so I drowned in your eyes

You offered a life jacket but there was only one

And we shared everything

So we shared the life jacket with the waves

And shared our last breaths, lips locked

The tombstone

We share that too
