Ellie's POV:
I walk into the room and find my seat. I set my things down and get myself ready to take notes. Since I didn't have a social life, at all, I became a very good student. As I looked for a pen I noticed someone starring at me in the corner of my eye.
Maybe he is starring at someone else near me... I thought to myself. But I couldn't shake up the feeling of eyes burning into me. I slightly turned my head, and saw a guy looking straight at me. I saw him smirk as he saw me looking, so I turned away. "Please let the class start.. Pleaseeee." I mumbled. But to my bad luck the guy walked over to me and stopped. He had brown short hair and blue eyes. He was much taller than me. I looked up through my thick eyelashes and glasses, and then looked down. He was just standing there. "Um can I help you?" I said quietly. He leaned in closer. I immediately backed away. He smirked again, "You know. You are quite pretty. Maybe you should take those glasses off though sweetheart." He said then winking. He then walked away leaving me in confusion.
"What just happened.?" I asked myself.
Something strange is going on.
I've never had this kind of attention. I've always been a quite keep to herself girl. I adjusted my glasses and kept my head down. The bell rung loudly and the teacher came in.
"Okay class! We have some exciting stuff!" Ms. Strider announced loudly.
She walks over to her desk, and sits down. We all wait in anticipation for what she is about to say.
"We are doing a partner project, so listen for your partner. I don't want to hear any complaints." She tells us all.
She goes down the list pairing students with other students. She gets to the name Austin on the list.
"Austin and.." She calls I look over to see the boy who came over to my desk. He winked at me and I looked away quickly. He gives me the creeps.
"Ellie." She finishes.
No.
No. No. No. No.
This can't happen. He is such a creep!
He looks over at me and smirks.
Ew.
I have to change partners.
After Ms. Strider is done I walk over to her desk while everyone chats.
"Ms.Strider?" I say weary.
She is typing away on her computer and then looks up at me.
She smiles.
"Ellie! What can I help you with?" She asks.
"I-I uh was wondering.. If. I could switch partners with someone else?" I ask and give her a small hopeful smile.
"I'm afraid not. Your a wonderful student. Austin could use some peer help in this class anyway." She says.
I nod and frown.
I walk back to my seat and see that Austin is talking with his friends and then looks at me. He keeps my gaze and keeps taking. His friends look at me and smirk too.
They are talking about me. I know it.
I look away embarrassed.
I sit down in my desk and say nothing else during the rest of class.
Our partner assignment is to do a report on how we use math everyday.
Sound easy to me but I'm sure dealing with Austin won't.
Thankfully the bell rings and I quickly grab my stuff wanting to leave as fast as possible. But as soon as I got to the door Austin was leaning against the doorframe starring at me. He left me no way to get around him.
"What do you want?" I spit at him now angry.
"You sweetheart. Why are you so angry? We're gonna become very close Ellie." He said in a taunting voice.
He scooted extremely close to me, very much in my personal space.
"Very." He whispered in a low voice that scared me.
I pushed him away and sprinted in the other direction.
He is a creep.
As I came to my locker I noticed Riley standing there. She saw me and smiled then waved. I smiled back.
I came over to her and she grabbed my arm linking it with hers. We walked to the next class and I told her everything about Austin.
"He sounds really creepy." She says cringing.
" I know!" I exclaimed frustrated.
The rest of the day plays out, and finally the last bell rings telling us to go home.
Riley finds me in the hallway, and drags me to her locker.
"You want to walk home with me?" She asks as she puts her books in her locker.
I think about this because I'm not sure what my grandparents would say.
I think today I'm supposed to make dinner..
"I-um. I'm not sure-" I start but then Riley interrupts.
She puts her finger to my mouth to shush me.
"Your coming with me. I'll talk to your parents if you need me to." She suggests. Too bad she can't talk to my parents huh?
"I.. I live with my grandparents." I say shyly.
She looks at me with a hint of confusion and curiosity.
"Why?" She asks curious.
I swallow. I never really told people. It got around anyway.
I opened my mouth to speak, when a boy started walking towards Riley. Her eyes widened and anger rushed through her. She turned the other way and grabbed my hand to start walking away with her. The boy quickened his pace to try to catch up to us.
"Is that your-" I started but a hand grabbed Riley.
"Where you going babe?" He asked smirking.
She took his hand off of her in disgust.
"I'm not your "babe" anymore Brandon got it? It's over." She spat at him.
He smirked again. Wow what a jerk.
"Aw hun. Sad I was kissing your friend? It's not my fault you weren't enough for me. But your friend? She knows how to have some fun. I don't
care if its over." He said meanly.
Riley turned away and had tears rolling down her cheeks. She was still angry. She clenched her fists then turned around. "You disgust me. Don't ever look at me or talk to me again." She said seething. He just shrugged and walked away. When he left she started to cry. I went over to her and attempted to hug her. Again, I'm not used to this. She cried a little then wiped her tears away. She gave me a smile and laughed.
"I wasn't lying when I said he was an asshole." She said rolling her eyes.
I have her a friendly smile.
"I'll be okay." She told me, but I think she was telling herself that as well.
"I know you will." I encourage her.
She links arms with me again.
"Lets go to my house." She states and we walk through the front doors together.
