'Ding dong'. It was the sound of the doorbell. "Wait a sec Gray. I'm not ready yet!", Natsu yelled towards the front door. Gray hadg asked him out for a date but Natsu had forgotten it and Happy had remembered him fifteen minutes before Gray would come to his house.
Outside the door Gray sighed. It was totally obvious that Natsu had forgotten about their date and Happy had reminded him a few minutes ago and now he couldn't get ready in time. Gray picked up the spare key from under the flower pot and opened the door by himself. Once inside he found Natsu drying his hair with the heat from his hand. There was a toothbrush in his mouth and all he was wearing was a towel around his waist.
When he was done blow-drying his hair and it had its usual spikes again, he spit out the last of the toothpaste in his mouth and dropped the towel. He turned to Gray and asked "What should I wear. Something formal or just my normal attire?"
"I don't really care. Just wear something.", Gray answered and Natsu disappeared into his bedroom and still yelled after Gray "You should do the same.", Gray looked down in confusion and saw he was only wearing his boxers. He looked around for his clothes and put them back on when he found them again. He sat down on the couch and waited for Natsu to get ready.Natsu walked put of his bedroom again, fully clothed now, and was adjusting his Scarf as he walked inside the bathroom again, put the toilet seat up and did his business. "Hey Gray!", he yelled back into the living room where Gray was sitting. "What are we gonna do today?", Natsu asked.
"It's a surprise.", Gray told him.
Natsu sighed and finished off in the bathroom. He was ed his hands and said goodbye to Happy before following Gray outside. They walked towards the town and had lunch in a nice bistro. After they had lunch they walked some more through town and looked at some stuff in stores. When it started to get late and the sun started to set, Gray took Natsu to the beach. They strolled around and swam a little in the ocean. After they had enjoyed themselves in the water, Gray took Natsu to a place on the beach where a towel was spread out on the sand and a picnic basket was set down.
"A picnic on the beach at sunset. That's so romantic of you Gray. I honestly didn't expect that coming from you.", Natsu told Gray with a big smile in his face. Gray was happy he could make Natsu happy like this and smiled a little more too.
They settled down and as Natsu eagerly started munching down on the sandwiches, Gray started eating one too.Natsu suddenly looked at Gray like he was gonna say something important and Gray waited for the words to come out of his mouth "Can I halve another sandwich?", Natsu asked. Gray sighed "Of course.". If Natsu wasn't going to ask it, he would. He handed Natsu a sandwich and when Natsu took a bite, he suddenly felt something hard in his sandwich. He opened his mouth and searched with his fingers what the heard thing was. When he got it put of his mouth he couldn't believe his eyes. In His sandwich was a ring. Gray never wore rings, only his necklace. Then how did that ring get into his sandwich.
Just when he was about o ask about it, Gray opened his mouth. "Do you wanna marry me, flamebrain?", Gray asked him.
Natsu was shocked, shocked but happy. He couldn't bring out any words anymore and just started crying. Hu started hugging Gray and buried his face in the fabric of Gray's shirt. Gray stroked those pink locks to comfort the crying boy. It had been such a great shock for him that he had just started crying. But Gray had seen it wasn't crying because he was sad. It was crying from happiness.
After a while it seemed Natsu had seemed himself to sleep as the sobs of just now had turned in soft snores. Gray took the ring and put it on Natsu's finger. "You know. You never gave me an answer.", Gray said to Natsu's sleeping form. Natsu purred in his sleep and said "Your an idiot ice princess.". Obviously dreaming.
"I'll take that as a yes.", Gray said and started stroking Natsu's hair again.
