A.N. Hello readers! I just wanted to quickly say that this banner things fanart is by the FANTASTIC Dreamerbee!! Enjoy :)

"He passes out a lot."

"From what, work? Being in the police force is stressful I imagine."

Becca shook her head while leaning close to Sarah by the counter.

"Heart Arrythmia. He passed out on his bathroom floor and I found him. Blood all over."

He did look tired but didn't that come in the job discription? Sarah was quite obviously showing a keen intrest into the random guest but he seemed intresting.

"Thats too bad. Can't he get it fixed?"

"Refuses. Not sure why. He is a quiet guy...except for one time he came onto me."

Sarah's eyes widened and she leaned foreward too.

"Tell all."

Becca smiled with a chuckle and began telling the short story. The way she responded to him asking was a bit rude but it was unexpected.

"And not to mention he failed to solve the Sandbroo-"

Her mouth closed and she shuffled through some papers acting like she hadn't said anything.

"He was the D.I. who messed up the Sandbrook murders? No wonder eve-"

Becca cleared her throat with a smile, "Hello Detective Hardy."
Sarah felt her heart drop down to her stomach and her face turned bright red. Should she say something to him?

"Nice to see I am the object of town gossip."
He placed a check on the counter searching through his pocket for a pen.

"Here." Sarah handed him her red grading pen with an uncomfortable smile. He was juat as mysterious as before but still extremely handsome. His auburn hair was tossed every which way and his beard untrimmed. Usually she went for well groomed but the state of him facinated her. The detective reluctantly took the pen and scribbled his signature on the check along with the amount. He had taken an intrest in the ginger woman just to his left. He couldn't blame her for gossiping about him, everyone did. Even Ellie. Not noticing he did it on purpose he shoved the pen into his coat pocket and she didn't seem to notice either.

"Alright..." Becca put the check in the register and smiled uncomfortably.

"I think someone is in the bar..."

She rushed out of the room and to the bar knowing no one was there.

"Er- I'm Sarah."

She smiled up at D.I. Hardy whos expression was still never changing. His eyebrow did seem to furrow a bit though.

"Sarah Postern."

Her hand was outstretched towards his and he took it shaking it firmly.

"Detective Alec Hardy."

He remembered just by one simple touch his memory was jogged. They had danced. It was when he had first found out about his wifes affair.

"Uh, we've met I believe."

Sarah's eyebrows became stitched together clear confusion washing over her.

"No. I would've remembered you."

"You don't remember me?"

"Uh, I saw you a few days ago."

Had she been drunk? It wasn't simple dancing either it was upbeat and lots of grinding between them but she refused to go any further.

"It was probably ten months back."

"No...sorry."

Alec was extremely annoyed. He wanted her to remember.

"Y-We uh, it was a bar. The dance floor was packed. It wasn't exactly ballroom dancing."
He really wasn't up for going into detail.

"Are you sure it was me? I think i would remember grinding against a stranger."
He was absolutely bonkers. She hadn't been to a bar in years. The only reason she would've was because of Keith or Trevor.

"Yes, I am sure it was you."
Why was she saying she didn't remember him? He wasn't exactly forgettable. Messy hair, failing heart, non-changing expression. Deffinately different from the rest of the town.

"I'm sorry, I really don't think that was me."
She bit the inside of her cheek drumming her fingers on the oak desk.
"It's nice to see a change. In your case it's expression."

How had she forgotten one whole night. One night of her life and she forgot it. Was he just a bad dancer and she wanted to forget?
"Wha- Oh yeah." The detective chuckled dryly, "for you appearantly its memory.." he mumbled under his breath.

She liked his laugh even if it wasn't entirely real. His eyes crinkled just the right way and he had a lovely smile even if he didn't do it much.
"Did you say something detective?"

He could try to refresh her memory. Drinking wasn't good for him at all but he could definately fake drink and have her order whatever she liked snd then try to get her to remember.
"Have a drink with me."

"What?"

"A drink. With me. Saturday night works for me."

Sarah raised an eyebrow standing up straight.
"You seem pretty sure that I will say yes."

"Why would you say no, you are single. Well I would hope so concidering how you had danced and I don't see an engagement ring or a wedding band."

Sarah's lips curled into a small smile as an airy laugh left her lips.
"Very well observed. But I still never danced with you Detective."

"So Saturday at eight is okay Postern?"

Postern? No one had ever adressed her by her last name.
"Text me."
She held out her hand as if asking for the pen.

"Oh, right."

He scrambled for the pen handing it to her. A recognizable warmth spread to his hand and he felt a light tickle on his palm.
She scribbled down the ten digits of her phone number on his palm leaving the pen in his hand.

"See you around detective."

Sarah made her way out the door pushing a bit of her hair behind her ear as she turned her head slightly with a smile. He saw and put up his hand as if he was saying good-bye with the simple gesture and it worked. The door closed behind her and Alec was left with a pen and a number which was plenty for him.
