I happily sighed as I marked the end of my last sentence on my History paper. Finally, all my homework was done. Now, I had some free time on my hands. Free time for me meant wattpad time.
Wattpad was possibly the best reading and writing site ever. Over millions of stories are written on there by various writers across the world. I remember the first day I found out about wattpad; I had read a really good teen fiction story. To my surprise, it was well written, just as if it could have been a real published book. Anyway, I've been going on Wattpad each and every day for almost two years now. Over hundreds of books were placed into my library.
As I logged into my account to find a new story to read, I noticed that I had a few messages placed in my inbox. A couple were from some readers of mine, complimenting me on my latest story. I wrote back, thanking them, with a wide smile on my face. Whenever someone complimented me on my writing, it brightened up my day.
I grew confused as I saw the last message was from the 'Wattpad Rehab Team'. What? I knew of the Wattpad Team, but Wattpad Rehab? To ease my confusion and curiousity, I clicked on the message to read it.
"Dear Aimee Walker,
Due to the amount of books in your library, and the amount of stories you have read on Wattpad, you have been submitted for rehab. We are concerned here at Wattpad Rehab, that your addiction, will get out of hand if not dealt with properly. Your parents/guardians have been informed. Tomorrow, we will have a car waiting for you to take you to Wattpad Rehab. Be ready by 8 AM.
Thank you, and have a lovely day,
The Wattpad Rehab Team”.
What?!
Remembering that it said my parents have been informed, I instantly ran downstairs, almost falling in the process. I found my mom and dad sitting in the living room, watching some movie.
"Wattpad Rehab?" I asked them, my voice dry. Did they agree to this? They never even knew of my wattpad addiction. Sure, they knew of the site and all, but they didn't know that I went on it every...single...day.
"Ah, you've gotten the message," my dad spoke, looking up at me wary eyes.
"Take a seat, sweetheart," my mom said, giving me a soft smile.
Their kindness about this all was agitating me.
"I need rehab for reading?! I've always loved to read; It's not like I'm an alcholic or a drug addict! Why would anyone need rehab for READING?"
"Reading to much can hurt you, honey. When was the last time you hung out with your friends?"
"Yesterday." I hung out with my friend Carol. Well, sort of. I kind of just sat there on my phone reading, while she did whatever.
"I can tell you haven't gotten any good amount of sleep lately. Reading so much can tire the brain out, and hurt your eyes. Relax, sweetheart, they're going to help you." My mom pulled me in to her arms, warmness enveloping me as I sobbed. Did this mean I wouldn't be able to go on wattpad anymore? Where were they taking me? What about school?
"The amount of time you will be spending there can vary. Don't worry, we will get your school assignments for you so you won't be missing anything. Now go and try to get some sleep?" My dad kissed my forehead before I squirmed out of my mothers arms. With a grunt, I trudged back up the stairs, and closed the door to my room.
They told me to get to sleep, HA! As if. I'll stay up all night if I can. I had no clue what this place was going to be like. There was a possibility I wouldn't get to go on Wattpad for a while, so I had to get some reading done tonight. This absolutely sucked, why me?
Wait...
If this was anything like a real rehab center, then would there be other kids, too? Kids like me? Addicted to Wattpad? Maybe this place wouldn't be so bad? But who knows. All I know is that right now, I had to read as much as I can before I went into Wattpad Rehab.
