Don't worry baby. You'll never lose us. Everything's okay now. We'll always be here for you. I'll see you soon.

Valerie's body jumped at the whisper of a car engine outside her house. She wiped the tears from her hazel eyes and set The Notebook down as she opened her window. Her body relaxed as soon as she noticed the dent on the hood of the car. She bit her lip when she heard the familiar sputtering as the car reached her driveway. She flew the front door open, and a light gasp escaped from her mouth. In front of her was the charming smile that always gave her butterflies. He stood there with his brown slacks and white button up shirt. She ran to him and hugged him as tightly as she could. His soft face was against her long blonde hair.

"Jonathan, I, I don't know what to do! I keep seeing their faces everywhere." she cried as she lightly kissed her best friend on the cheek. She buried her face into his chest, as he walked her to the car. "I miss them so much!"

"It's okay, Val. It will all be okay. Just tell me about it in the car." He assured her as he wiped her tears with his thumb and sat her down into the passenger seat. His eyes mirrored the same mournful expression on her face. As he got into the driver's seat, he smoothed out his pants, started the car, and drove off onto the dusty dirt road.

Twenty five minutes passed and he turned the radio down. His eyes still on the road, he searched for her hand and finally grabbed it. He could hear her sobs.

"I thought moving to another state would help me, but it didn't. I thought that getting away would help me cope with all their death better, but who am I kidding?! It's never going to get better! Everything I do is not going to bring them back," she sniffled, "Jonathan, I just don't know what to do now. Oh my gosh, I just miss them so much!"

"Val, it's just what you always do. For everything you don't have an answer for, you just run away. I'm not saying that it's wrong, it's just that you can't just run away from this. You can't keep running away..."

"I know! But I can't help it. I can't stay there. Everything reminds me of them."

"Val, it's all going to be alright... Just don't give up on your dreams, okay? Becoming a teacher, that's what your parents always wanted you to be. Just don't give up just yet. It doesn't mean you can't still make them proud."

Her cries almost turned into hysterics. "But I can't make them proud anymore! How can I, when they're not even here to see me? How can I, whene they're no longer here to tell me they love me? Jonathan, you just don't get it. They're gone, okay?! They're gone!"

He could hear her gasping for breaths in between each sob, so he squeezed her hand just a little, "Val, they're watching over you, just don't forget that." he paused for a long second, and spoke again with a more serious tone, "Val, tell me more about what you said back at the house."

"Jon-Jonathan, yesterday I saw my mother's face, just staring at me from my backyard." Jonathan was just about to say something until she pulled her hand away from him, to hide her tears. "But there was something about her face. It was so different. It wasn;t the same face, it was this beautiful cherubic face smiling back at me. But I know it was her."

"Val..." Jonathan gasped, "are you sure?"

"Yes! I'm absolutely positively sure it was them! But that's not all, last night around two in the morning, oh my god, I think I'm going crazy. I woke up to get a glass of water. And I saw a young man, hug... no, he was holding this beautiful lady." Val's eyes grew more distant as she choked on the next words, " It was my mom and dad."
