Crawling on his stomach, Boruto made his way through the ridiculous training course. His sensei--Sasuke Uchiha--was running him ragged. He had already been through this track hundreds of times, his clothes covered in mud and leaves. He had innumerable amounts of scrapes and bruises covering his entire body. He growled, mumbling incoherent complaints to himself.

Sasuke looked on at his pupil, his best friend's son. He could see the physical resemblance that young Boruto shared with his father, but he couldn't see Naruto's strength and willpower. Boruto was, well, lazy. He wasn't lazy in the same way as Shikamaru and Shikadai, not at all. This boy was all about cutting every corner, taking every short cut he could think of. Sasuke shook his head, his disappointment peaking. He had wanted little Boruto to learn that short cuts weren't the way to success, that nothing could be achieved without 100% focus and determination. The training that he had been pushing on his student was aimed at his weakness, his impatience on whatever task at hand. He couldn't cut corners in this training course, there was a set path that had to be followed precisely. Although his plans for training were thought out endlessly, nothing was happening. He wasn't learning a thing. All the hard work of planning the lesson was lost on Boruto, mistaken for a new way to torture and displease him. For a moment Sasuke Uchiha doubted himself, doubted his ability to teach.

'Maybe I'm not a good enough teacher for the boy,' he pondered silently. 'Maybe I should send him back to Naruto, say good riddance to the whole affair,'

What was he even thinking? If anyone could whip Boruto Uzumaki into shape, it was him.

"Come here," he spoke, his voice emotionless. Boruto stood, panting, staring at his sensei from the rock wall he was currently struggling to climb. Jumping down semi-gracefully, he made his way over to him. Sasuke had made up his mind, and Boruto wouldn't be happy with his decision.

"You're not progressing. You're not doing much of anything, Boruto."

"W-what? Sensei, I've been working my butt off, slaving over this and that and anything that you can throw at me!"

"Exactly my point. Why do you act like all of your effort is for me, to please me? I don't want you to be my puppet, I can control anyone. I'm trying to teach you, trying to make you understand something that is apparently incomprehensible to you." Sasuke turned away from the confused boy, hesitating with his back to Boruto.

"Come to me when you understand." As soon as Sasuke Sensei spoke, he was gone. Boruto was left in the dust of his sensei's abrupt exit.

------

Boruto was furious, kicking the dirt and cursing, needing to get his fury out. Long story short, nothing was working. In the middle of his temper tantrum, Mitsuki-kun showed up. They were both members of Team Konohomaru, along with an absent Sarada-chan.

Mitsuki had been watching Boruto from afar, enjoying the scene taking place in front of him. Boruto was so hotheaded, ridiculously so. He loved to watch these outbursts of his, loved the expressions that crossed his angelic face. Mitsuki felt his cheeks, felt the warmth that was radiating from them. He was blushing, something that happened often when he gazed upon his best friend. He didn't know why, exactly, but it was becoming more and more frequent.

'Maybe it's because he's so...pretty?' Mitsuki thought hard, coming up with no better explanation. He had no one to ask for advice, definitely not wanting to ask Sarada. He wanted to talk to Boruto about this, but it was about him! Mitsuki imagined how that conversation would go down, and shuddered at the thought. 'Hey Boruto, I feel really attracted to you and it's confusing me. What do you think this means?' Mitsuki shook his head, that sounded ridiculous. It felt as if he was going to die with this secret. His chest was getting tight, his breathing speeding up to match his erratic heartbeat. Hiding his face in his oversized sleeves, he exhaled heavily, regaining his composure. It was nothing, Boruto was just his best friend. 'Everything is fine,' was his last thought before approaching the angel before him.
