Boruto left Mitsuki-kun's apartment early in the morning, his cheeks flushed a bright red as he locked the door behind him. He wandered home, his head a blur of the previous night's events. Kicking the dirt as he walked, he was completely unaware of Inojin until he felt the boy's hands cover his eyes. Putting has hands over his friend's he laughed, leaping behind him and jumping onto his back. Boruto struggled to stay on top of the bucking 'bull' but soon gave up, hopping to his feet. The two boys bent forward, both overcome with the giggles.
Inojin was one of Boruto's best friends, even their parents were close with each other. Ino-kun was a member of team Ino-Shika-Cho, the second generation, of course. He was the most motivated of all his friends, seeming to train endlessly. Inojin's devotion to his training made Boruto want to try harder, wanting to be just as successful as him. Though they had a great friendship, there was always a slight hint of competition between the two. But it was only natural, the competition between them healthy.
Inojin smiled pleasantly at Boruto, "where are you headed so early?" he asked, not used to seeing his friend in the early morning hours.
Boruto held back a sneer. 'I'm sure you were going to train,' he bitterly thought to himself.
"I was at Mitsuki-kun's apartment. Heading home now."
He kept his response short, not knowing how to even describe what had happened last night.
He watched Inojin's eyes widen. "He took you to his house?"
Boruto closed his eyes and folded his arms, smirking at Inojin. "Well, we're pretty close."
Inojin smiled, although somewhat confusedly. "Are you two dating now?"
Boruto could feel his face flush a bright red, embarrassment clearly showing on his face. Stuttering, he tried to find the words that he was looking for but nothing came to his mind--or mouth.
Inojin took in the expression on Boruto's face and immediately regretted what he had said. He sighed internally, 'I got this from my father.' He smiled slyly, remembering his dad's opinion on the uses of one simple smile.
"A-ah well, we,--" Boruto stopped talking altogether and took a deep breath. "Between me and you, he's obsessed with me." The words came from his mouth smoothly, sounding very self confident. "He practically begged me to stay the night!"
Inojin's smile became more painful to hold in place, he couldn't believe what Boruto had just said about their friend. "Lovely," Inojin had nothing more to say, he couldn't think of anything that wouldn't be offensive.
Inojin excused himself, smiling at Boruto while he walked to his training ground where his sensei waited.
Watching his friend walk away, the full weight of what he had said to Inojin settled upon his tiny shoulders. 'What...did...I... Do?' Struggling to keep his composure, his hands clenched into fists.
"I'm fucked," he spoke only himself, shaking his head and thinking about the pitiful future before him.

Unlocking his front door, Boruto trudged through the hallway with heavy feet. He couldn't believe himself, couldn't believe the shit that he kept getting himself into.
'First Sasuke Sensei and now this?' He plopped himself into bed and pressed a pillow into his face. It was only a matter of time before Mitsuki heard about what he'd said to Inojin. He wanted to absolutely die.
'Can I never do anything right?'
He had never felt so hopeless before, so unsure of what was going to happen. Everything was going wrong at the same time, and it was literally all his fault.
A soft knock at the door made Boruto groan into his pillow, the sound muffled. Mumbling, he answered the person beyond his room, "come in."
Hinata opened the door to see her son lying in bed suffocating himself with a pillow. She urgently rushed to his side and gently took it from his face, tucking it behind his head.
"What's the matter, honey?" She asked her beloved son, her voice filled with sickly sweet concern.
Boruto rolled onto his stomach, not able to face anyone at that moment.
"I messed everything up, mom." He didn't know what to do anymore, he hoped his mother might shine some insight into his world of pain.
Hinata stroked her son's blonde hair, so similar to his father's.
"You know...a simple apology can fix almost anything." Hinata's voice was very soft, her touch on Boruto's golden locks never relenting.
Boruto's heart stopped beating so quickly, the palpitations stopping. His mother's touch was so calming to him, her voice making him at ease with the things that moments ago had been killing him.
"An apology?" He mumbled to himself more to his mother, his face shoved in his pillow yet again.
"Only one filled with meaning and sincerity," She was worried for her son, her beautiful little angel that she brought into the world. Unsure of what troubled him she continued, feeding her son the advice she knew could help in almost any given situation.
He sniffled quietly, overcome with emotion from what had already happened in the very short day.
Leaning down, Hinata kissed Boruto's head. She stood and softly walked to the doorway, turning to look at her baby boy once more.
"You can fix this." She shut the door behind her, leaning against it from the other side. Her heart broke for him, and she didn't even know what was wrong. 'My poor baby,' she thought to herself, hoping that she had helped at least a tiny bit.

Boruto had made up his mind after his pep talk with his mother. He knew that he wasn't always the perfect friend, but he was going to try harder. He struggled to think of the best way to make it up to his friends, to make up the way he'd been acting for, well--his whole life.
Something about Mitsuki and what his mother had said deeply changed him. He didn't want to hurt Mitsuki, not like he had hurt so many others in the past.
Boruto was never one to apologize or even admit that he had done something wrong, but that was about to change.
Fumbling for his cell phone he sent a group text to his friends--Mitsuki, Inojin, Shikadai, Sarada, ChoCho--telling them where to meet and when.
'Maybe I can ask Sarada-chan for her advice on her dad,' Boruto was still confused about that situation, maybe more than ever--but he'd never been more sure of how to handle this one.
Hours passed while Boruto made the plans, getting everything prepared for his friends to show up.
He knew that he hadn't really done anything to upset his other friends, but based on his past behavior alone there must have been something he had said or done.
'This is my time to change all that,' Boruto was filled with a new feeling of self confidence, one completely different from the big-headed sensation he was used to.
'Just wait till they see what I have set up!'
His hands were shaking from excitement--and fear from just the thought of seeing Mitsuki-kun again.
