Sam awoke to the sound of pouring rain. She stood from her bed and walked over to the window in the hotel room. Outside, there was dark, black clouds and a down pour of rain. Thunder rumbled and lightning cracked as Sam continued to look outside.
She turned away from the window and pulled the green curtains over the glass. She walked over to Justin's bed to see him buried under the covers, drooling into the comforter. She giggled to herself and then walked over to her bed. She pulled on her black Converse and then looked over at the digital clock: 8:24. She grabbed a room key and her grey blazer and made her way over to the door. She opened it up and then stepped out into the hallway.
She walked over to the gold elevator and pressed the down button. She stuck her hands in her coat pockets, and grasped onto her cell phone. She pushed her messaging button to see that she had 17 new messages, all of which were from her fellow classmates at Lenchester.
Hey, why weren't you at school today? Are you sick? - Alex
Sam opened another:
Hey are you okay? I didn't see ya at school today, so I was just wondering -Beth
And she opened up yet another and another, all of them asking, where Sam was today and why she had not shown up to go to school.
Sam looked over her phone, when all of a sudden it began to buzz. The caller I.D. was unknown and Sam was tempted to not answer it, but it was too late. The phone was up by her ear and she was speaking to an unknown, gruff on the other line.
"Hello? Who is this?" Sam questioned, as the elevator arrived.
"Miss Hensworth? I am working for your brother-" Sam began to hang-up when she heard the voice yell again. "Do not hang up, miss!"
"What do you want with me?" Sam said calmly into the phone.
"I don't want anything from you. Your brother wants me to find you. Which by the way, this phone call is very much helping," The man explained.
Sam's eyes bulged as she quickly began to hang-up the phone. How could of she not known? Her brother could trace her with her cell phone. Sam hit her self in the forehead and knew she needed to ditch her phone.
The elevator doors parted and Sam stepped off, looking both ways. She held the cell phone still in her hand and began to walk to the front doors. She rubbed her phone, one last time, and then opened the door. The rain still continued to pour and Sam held the phone above her head. She threw it outside, it began to smoke up and then it's screen ceased to shine. Sam sighed and went back inside the hotel.
She pushed the elevator call button, again. She stood in silence when she felt a hand fall upon her shoulder. She turned her head to see a bald headed man and the greenest eyes, she had ever seen.
"Why hello, miss. Going somewhere?" The man asked, as Sam pushed his hand off of her shoulder.
"Um, I-I-" Sam began, as she started backing away from him. A moment later, two other men appeared behind him. Sam held her breath as the bald man grasped onto her wrist. The elevator dinged and then opened. Sam stood in silence and then kicked her leg up in between the man's legs. She sprinted over to the elevator, as the man fell to the ground. The two other man ran over to him and he began to yell,
"Don't help me! Get the girl!"
Sam began to push the close button, and just in the nick of time, the doors closed.
The elevator went up fast and reached the 14th floor. Sam sprinted along through the hallway, and reached her room. She slid the key card in and jogged over to Justin's bed.
