Lyndsay’s POV
Two days until the One Direction concert. The excitement was killing me. The concert was this Saturday and I had already been waiting forever. I was walking around downtown Chicago today. For the obvious reason that it was a nice day. But I was also hoping that maybe the boys would be walking around too, and maybe I could catch a glimpse of them. Not very likely, I know. But hey, I can dream can’t I? I was wearing my I Love Liam t-shirt in anticipation for the concert. I had always had a soft spot for Liam apart from the other boys. He was just the absolute nicest guy ever. But unfortunately he had a girlfriend back home. You see, I always had this vision that one day we were just randomly going to meet and fall in love and live happily ever after. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one with this vision. I know the extreme unlikelihood of it as well. But I always have been a dreamer.
I was walking through the street when I stopped at a newsstand. I was hoping that one magazine would have some photos of them while they were here already. Or maybe a new interview. To say I’m obsessed with them is probably an understatement. I was flipping through a new magazine when the headline of a new tabloid caught my eye.
Liam Payne is Single?!
And then the one next to it as well.

WHAT?!?!?!?!?!? LIAM IS SINGLE?!?!?!?!?! I began reading the article inside the first tabloid.
“In yesterday’s interview with a Chicago news show to be aired later today, One Direction’s Liam Payne confirms that he is now single! He told the news show that him and Danielle, his now ex-girlfriend, had decided to conclude their relationship around two months ago while he was back home in the UK. He explained that the distance had been causing a strain on the relationship for quite some time, and they both felt that it was the best thing to do. The pair still remains friends. He kept the break-up a secret because he did not want it to interfere with his time off. Him, along with three other members of the popular boyband (Harry, Zayn, and Niall) are all single as of now which is good news for all of you Directioners!”
Oh my goodness. Liam is single. This may be the greatest day of my life. I feel terrible about his breakup though. That must have been so hard. They had been dating for almost two years.
I put the tabloid back on the rack and kept walking down the street. I ducked into the closest Starbucks and got myself some coffee. It was after all only 10 o’clock in the morning. I’m usually not up this early.
I was walking back down the street, holding my coffee and my phone. I was looking through Twitter on my phone to see what hotel they were staying at so I could try to go to places around there. I was so immersed in my phone that I didn’t see the person right in front of me. I ran straight into them, spilling my coffee all over me and the person I ran into.
“I’m so sorry babe! I didn’t mean to run into you!” the person said. I looked up.
This isn’t happening.
This can’t be happening.
I just spilled my coffee all over 1/5 of the biggest boyband in the world.
I just ran into Liam Payne.
