So, I finally updated! I got really great responses on the previous chapter so to all of you who commented: thank you so much!
Moving on, this chapter is almost 1000 words long and pretty much all the chapters will be about that long. Also, I have a big volleyball match tomorrow so I probably won't post anything. Wish me luck.
Oh, and putting random Riley/Rowan gifs above that have nothing to do with the story because why not! :)
Stay sassy!

Lucas opens the passenger door for me. Oh, what a gentleman! He would be more of a gentleman if he wouldn't show up at my window at 10 pm and invade my private time with Halsey. Like seriously dude, couldn't you come, I don't know, maybe tomorrow in the afternoon or something.

I mumble a quite "Thanks" and get in the car. He walks around and gets in as well.

He starts the engine and I look at him confused.

"I thought you said you wanted to talk." I say while looking directly in his eye, burning in his soul with my 'bitch look'. Too dramatic?

He chuckles. "No, I said that we are going for a drive. And talk, of course."

I roll my eyes and look out the window. He starts driving and we just sit there for a couple of minutes. Not talking, not laughing, just...driving.

Lucas takes a deep breath and finally speaks. "Look, Riles. I don't like this. This awkward air between us that's just getting bigger every day we don't talk to each other. And it sucks. It really does. And I want that to change."

"Yea." Is all I manage to say. He sighs and continues to drive while I look down at my hands and start playing with the bracelets on them.

Then I notice something familiar. A bracelet with a small heart on it. The heart has engraved initials in it; R&L. I smile at the thought that swooshes through my brain.

Lucas seems to notice me smiling and says, "I remember that."

"What?" I snap out of my thoughts.

"That." He says and nods his head towards the bracelet.

"Oh. Well, it was a great day."

*flashback to a couple of months ago*

"Hey Riley!" Lucas says and catches up with me.

"Hey." I say and give him the best smile I can.

"I got something for you." He says and pulls out a small box. He opens it, showing a pretty bracelet with a small heart on it, which has engraved initials in it; R&L.

"Lucas, it's beautiful!" I say and he helps me put it on. "Why did you get me this?"

"Because, what we have is something special. Even though we aren't dating, I want you to remember what we had when we both become old." He says with a cheeky smile and I can't help myself with smiling even more.

"Thank you, Lucas!" I say and hug him.

"Don't sweat it. Now c'mon, I'm hungry."

*present time*

"Yea, it really was. How come you still wear it? I mean, with all the-"

"I don't know." I cut him off. "I guess, I just like it. Or I like the thought."

He stays silent and looks back at the road. We drive for 10 more minutes before he suddenly takes a turn into unknown and stops the car.

"Lucas?" I ask a bit concerned.

"Don't worry, Riles. You are not getting kidnapped or anything else. We are just gonna get some fresh air." He says and gets out of the car. He comes to my side and opens the door. I get out and we start walking.

"So, how are you?" He asks out of nowhere.

"What do you mean?"

"How are you...with Maya and you know...stuff." He says a little bit unsure and scratches the back of his head which is actually kinda cute.

"Well, me and Maya aren't really on the speaking terms right now." I say and look down.

"Sorry to heart that." He says and rubs my shoulder which fires a feeling through my body.

"I mean, we do say 'hi' and stuff, but we don't hang out so much. She's got some new friends and me...well I still got Halsey."

"You've got who?" He asks and at that time I just want to smack him directly in the nose.

"You don't know who's Halsey?"

"N-no." He stutters. Damn, I've never see him stutter before.

"Well, she is only the queen of pop music. I may or may not jam to her songs all day, and I may or may not have about 50 posters of her in my room." I tell him and he just chuckles.

We walk a bit more until I stop and look around. This is familiar. No, this is very familiar. This is...
