"Sarah? Sarah!" I heard my name being shouted by a voice that seamed fermiliar, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"Sarah!" The voice shouted once more and my eyes flew open. I looked to my left and saw... Karen?
"Head on the clouds, as usual."
What is she doing here? I looked around and saw that I was home.
What?
I looked to see what Karen was shouting about, and saw that a cup was overflowing with milk.
But this.... this is the night I left. The night I came home from the Labyrinth, and soon went back again.
That can't be right.
I looked up just as Karen stormed out of the room.
But she's supposed to say the words...
I took the freshly made tea into the room and sat it down on the table.
Karen was nowhere to be seen and my father was sat in an armchair in the living room. It was strange seeing someone sit normaly in an arm chair after seeing Jareth lounge across his throne for the last... or... was any of it real?
"Sarah... we need to talk."
Uh oh... this means trouble.
I sat down on the seat opposite my father. It took all my will power not to throw my legs over the arm.
"Where do you go?" He asked, as if it was obvious what he was talking about.
When he saw the puzzled look on my face, he elaborated.
"When you zone out, where do you go? Normaly I just figure it's somthing to do with one of your books. But this time, I don't know, it just seams... different."
I sighed. I guess it wouldn't hurt explaining, it's not like he'd ever believe me.
"This is going to sound crazy... but let me finish." He nodded and I sighed again, placing my head in my hands and figuring out where to start.
"Ok, so... about a year ago... no, sorry... wrong time zone..." He looked at me more confused, and I realised he had no idea what I was talking about.
"Anyway... Earlier on this evening, whilst I was watching over Toby-" He cut me off.
"You sound different. Your talking strange, more... proper."
I paused, face still in my hands, and shook my head lightly.
"I know father and I sware, as soon as I've explained, it will make sence to you."
He nodded, slightly dazed. I realised I had said that I swore which is somthing I would not usually say.
"So, yeah... Whilst I was watching Toby, he was getting on my nerves, so I said some lines from a book I had been reading."
He nodded. My father never listened to me anymore, but now his ears were definitely tuned in.
"I acidentaly wished him away to the Labyrinth, to be kidnapped by The Goblin King. I had 13 hours to run the Labyrinth in order to win Toby back. Through dangers untold, traps and snares set by The Goblin King, I sucseeded.
After an hour of being home, Karen wished us back again. At first we weren't welcome, but soon..."
I hesitated a little too long, and my dad saw on my face what I was reluctant to say.
"You fell in love with him didn't you."
I nodded. "Yes. We were engaged. You and Jareth, The Goblin King, got on well too. You really liked him."
"I liked the man who kidnapped my son and almost killed my daughter...?"
"You understood that he had no choice. That the only reason he took Toby was because I wished him away, and a Fae cannot deny a wish."
He nodded slightly, as if trying to straighten this out in his head.
"Sarah, this just sounds like a trick of your imagination-" I stopped him.
"No dad it was real! I sware!-"
"Let me finish." He cut me off, snapping slightly from the fact I had stopped him mid sentence. "This sounds like a trick of your imagination. But from what you told me, you were happy, right?" He asked and I nodded.
"So why we're you so shaken up when you snapped back to reality?" He asked, genuinely confused.
"Because it was the same... when Karen wished us back, she was shouting at me for spilling milk. Exactly how I did a moment ago. It was like I saw it, before it happened. Everything was exactly the same... or at least... up until the point where Karen stormed through here, when she should have said the words."
He nodded understandingly again.
"Sarah, I think you should go get some sleep tonight and we'll talk about this when I get home from work tomorrow. I'm going to the office now. I'll be back later."
I nodded as he kissed me on the forehead and i started to head up the stairs. I was shatted. I felt as if I had litterely just ran the Labyrinth.
