**Wow, over 100 reads. I am in awe. So, as promised, here is part one of My Son's Friend, sequel to My Friend's Dad. The parts in italics are flashbacks. I give you fair warning, this story is NOT complete, I only have two and a half parts finished but I am horribly stuck with this story. So, I work on it when I can. I hope you enjoy.**
It had been roughly four years since Castiel Novak had seen his son's friend.
Dean Winchester walked across the stage and collected his high school diploma. He looked up and smiled at the people who cheered as his name was called. After his parent's died in a house fire, all that remained of clan Winchester was Dean, his brother Sam and his surrogate uncle, Bobby. "Congratulations Dean." "Thank you Mr. Novak." Their eyes met, Dean felt himself flush and looked away. "I was hoping to speak with you, in private." Dean's eyes widened in surprise and he bit his lower lip. Ever since he and Castiel had shared that afternoon, Dean had wanted nothing and no one else. "I promise, I won't keep you long." Dean flushed again and silently nodded.
The two found a park bench and sat down. "So, Gabriel tells me you have a fully ride football scholarship to K-State. Do you know what you plan to major in?" "I've been thinking about education. Honestly, I would like to be a teacher." "I think that's an excellent idea. A very noble profession. I believe you would do very well." Dean smiled and felt his heart race at the praise. "Well, we both know how well I take instruction." Dean waggled his eyebrows and chuckled at his own joke. Castiel sighed and looked at a spot in the distance. "Look Dean. What happened before, can't and won't happen again." Dean let out a shocked gasp. "Mr. Novak, I don't understand. You, are all I've wanted, ever. Please explain it to me. I thought...." Dean trailed off as he placed his hand on Castiel's. "Well, for starters, I'm almost twenty years older then you." "That doesn't matter, I'm 18, a legal consenting adult." "You're leaving for school, you need to focus on your studies." "Believe me, us" he pointed at himself then Castiel "would not affect my studies!" "Sam and Gabriel." This succeeded in pausing Dean's rants. "How would they feel when they found out. What would we tell them?"
Dean moved forward. Placing one hand under Castiel's chin, he tipped his head back until their eyes met. Dean captured Castiel's lips with his own, earning a sharp intake of breath from the older man. Castiel ghosted his fingers up Dean's arms and neck. He fisted the short blonde locks and tugged, abruptly ending their kiss. Castiel had to stop this before things went too far. He looked into Dean's tear filled eyes. "Dean..." "Cas, I love you." Castiel remained stone and motionless, still staring into Dean's emerald gaze. "Cas, I love you, say you love me too. I have for many years. So tell me, does that mean nothing?" Castiel said nothing, Dean's words still tumbling in his head. "Does that mean nothing?" Dean's whisper brought Castiel out of his silent stupor. He swallowed audibly before answering. "No, Dean. I means nothing. Nothing at all." Dean stood and looked away, unable to hold back his feelings any longer. He did the only thing he could think of, he ran. Castiel sat back, his own emotions entering the picture. "It's for the best" he told himself. "It's all for the best. Dean's going to college. He needs to focus on that. It's all for the best."
