I haven't heard this particular Evanescence song in a while.

When it comes on my Pandora, it takes me back - back about four years, to a dark time when I had no friends, no lovers (not that I have either of those today), and felt no hope of escaping a soul-crushing life path.

I actually realize I'm in my age-19 head, again experiencing this time in my life, and its despair, all over again.

The song ends, and I expect to go back to the present where I belong.

It just plays on repeat. And I stay trapped.

Like a beast in a cage.
