As I slowly closed my tear-filled eyes, I felt another rain drop fall on me. I was shivering on the ground outside his house. He wouldn't let me in because I had apparently "talked back to him" or something. Whatever. I'd rather be out here than in there with him. My life has ended up like a tire rolling down a hill. It just keeps rolling further and further down... What happened to me?

*

I happily walked out of the store carrying the new Off the Wall album by Michael Jackson I just bought. I was so happy that I was skipping through the fields all the way home. I couldn't believe I actually held it in my hands. The Off the Wall album was in my hands. It just came out about a month ago and my parents gave me my allowance early so I was able to get it.

When I walked through the door, I was tackled by my 2 year old German Shepard, Roxy. I was on the floor laughing as she licked my face.

I heard my parents yell "Cassidy! Dinner's ready!"

I've always been an obedient child so I came in right away and sat down to eat. My parents were smiling at me a little more than usual. Something was up.

"What?" I giggled.

"I got a call from your coach today Cassidy." My father spoke.

"He told us you got a scholarship in volleyball!"

I dropped my fork on my plate and it made a loud clinking noise that rang for what seemed like forever.

"REALLY?! OH MY GOSH THAT'S AMAZING!!"

"It is! I'm so proud of you Cassidy. We both are." My mom explained as she looked at my dad and held his hand.

I loved my parents. I always hoped that someday I would have a love life like theirs.

After dinner, I decided to go into my room and listen to my new album. After a good 3 hours of the music, I climbed into bed and drifted to sleep. Not soon after did I hear a big crash coming from downstairs.

I sat up straight in my bed and heard Roxy barking and growling at someone. All of a sudden, I heard her whimper for a while, then it ceased. My heart raced faster than ever. I started to get out of bed when my mom came in my room, opened my window and told me to get out.

"Why? What's going on?" I asked her.

"Sweetie just go. Run. Run as far as you can. I'll explain later." My mom said surprisingly soothingly for such a frantic situation.

She slowly led me to the window where I climbed out, never losing eye contact with her. After I stood on my driveway for a minute, I thought about what just happened. I couldn't run away from my family. I can't just leave them.

I hid behind a bush on the side of my house until the commotion died down. I could see the sun start to come up after awhile so I cautiously made my way back into my house. What I saw was not what I wanted to see one bit...
