Mony's POV
Uggg, my head. I thought as I raced along the stone brick wall. The view was incredible, being chased was not. After Nathan had vanished I decided to make a run for it. No matter what my cover could not be blown. Books being alive?? Not normal. It didn't matter if he had powers too, anything could happen. I wasn't going to be responsible for the extinction of the life books.
That's what I called them, life books. You see some books weren't alive, just pictures painted onto a page. Others, life books, were created by painters whom had traces of magic in their blood. Specifically Light magic. Light magic creates, you guessed it, light and with it life. These books had living people in them, people created by magic.
Anyway there are also different types of magic. MANY different types of magic. So I like to categorize them into six parts. Water magic, Fire magic, Wind magic, Earth magic, Dark magic, and Light magic. Each does as its name entails.
By the way did I mention I was getting chased? Yeah, I think I did. So, when Nathan left I rushed past his mom and picked a random way to go. Well let me just say, those guards are good at their jobs. The moment one saw me they figured I was trying to escape from the dungeons or something because they came at me.
Don't get caught, don't get caught. An arrow whizzing past my head brought me out of my thoughts. By then I had found my way to the roof and was running along the stone pathways between towers. Turning I attempted to jump the small wall separating my from the next tower. Unfortunately, guards were there too.
Oh dear. I thought. The lead guard knocked me out, and as the light began to fade, I thought I saw a sign of sympathy on his face.
(Whooo! Getting knocked out is fun!)
Mony's mom's POV
I hung up. Was Alan crazy?! Leave Mony. "Maria, talk to Richard, he said. Leave your daughter, he said." I muttered to myself. Uggghh. Why her of all people. Well might as well take his advice. I dialed, and on the first ring Richard picked up.
Phone's POV (basically as if you were listening in on their conversation)
"Um, hello?" Richard said.
"Hey, its Maria, its important." *sigh* " Mony, she...fell through a Portal." Maria mumbled, in a rush to get the words out. Like a bad taste.
"Right. Well, have you spoken with Alan yet?" Richard asked. His voice was monotone. He had learned long ago not to get attached. Though he couldn't help feeling bad. He had met Mony as an infant.
"Yes, I spoke with him." She sounded somewhat irritated at having to ask for permission to speak to Richard.
*hmmm* a mumble came from Richard.
"So, what can we do?" Maria said.
"Much as I hate to say it, there is nothing WE can do. You can send in a report to Control and hope they can find her," He hears how bad that sounds and continues in a whisper, "I know you don't agree. I don't really agree with the way Control runs things but what can you do? Like the name suggests; they control everything."
"Yeah, I get you. I just....never mind." Maria and Richard sit in uncomfortable silence for a few seconds. Maria thinks of something just as Richard goes to hang up.
"Have you heard of the Rebellion?"
This catches Richard's attention. He looks around his office before answering in a harsh whisper, "Don't talk about that stuff! You could get us killed!"
Maria shrugs indifferently, then remembers Richard can't see her, "Richard, I don't care. Besides you guys need to watch out for this sort of thing. I mean, the Rebellion wants to take Control out."
Richard sighs. A beep is heard, signaling Richard has another call to take. Maria hears and quickly says goodbye. Richard does the same.
They hang up.
