Ryan's POV
When the chief called me to his office, I wasn't too ecstatic. When people went in there they would either be hired or fired. I had already been working there for three years so what could it be? Didn't have too many options now. I gently knocked on the door, and the chief signaled me to come in.
"Ah, agent Michaels. Just the man I wanted to see. Well, I needed to introduce you to someone, agent Scott. I think your team would be perfect with one more. Recently graduated, and highly intelligent. We are lucky to have agent Scott on our time."
Oh great, another newbie! I wonder what this dude will look like. Probably some nerd trying his chance here. Well we at the NY FBI department do not fool around. Just then Chief Davidson opened the door to what left me shocked.
"Agent Amara Scott, reporting for duty, sir!"
"Oh agent, you do not need to get so formal! Well meet agent Michaels! You will be on his team from now on and I assure you that is not an easy team to be on. A tough spot to get onto. You will be working right under him, and he will provide you with any of the materials necessary. I hope you received your badge at the front desk?"
"Yes, sir. Also, I am grateful for this opportunity and promise not to let you down!" said Amara. She was gorgeous! Probably 5'7 since the heels she wore were about three inches. A navy blue pantsuit with black buttons and a white shirt covered her fair complexion. Her light pink lipstick made her hazel colored eyes pop. Her brown hair was in a ponytail and she wore little to no jewelry.
"Agent Michaels!"
"Uh, yes sir," I responded.
"Well are you just going to stand there or shake hands and welcome Agent Scott to your team?"
"Right sir, I mean yes sir." I forwarded my hand and took hers in mine. It was as soft as butter. Oh great she's just a beauty. No brains. Clearly she pays more attention to herself than a case. She won't last long.
"Hey, David! I bet you that new chick will be out of here in 30 days!"
"Nah, man I say two weeks!" replied John. "What do you think Ryan?"
"Is that all you do? Place bets? Come on now, give her a chance. And calm your damn selves down. Now get to work! And John what about those case files I gave you? Chief wants them by 3pm sharp. When he says three he means three. So get moving you two."
With that they returned to work. David and John my two best friends, since college. They were always there for me and I learnt to deal with them. Just when I sat down the Chief and Amara came over.
"Ryan, I want you to show Amara around the neighborhood. Give her some info and make her feel comfortable. She's new here, so make sure she gets anything she needs. So, for that both of you can take the rest of the day off."
Cheif spoke so fast and left that I couldnt say anything else but "Yes, sir."
It took a while to show her around. You never realize how big the city is. Finally, we reached a coffee shop and I was pretty tired. The Chief had assigned me a case and I was up all night trying to piece it all together. So I needed some caffeine.
"Hey, you wanna grab a coffee?"
"Sure," she replied.
I ordered a black coffee and she got a French Vanilla cappuccino while we found a small table to sit at. We also got some cheese sandwiches.
"So, we have a few hours to kill. Why not play a game?" I suggested.
"A game?" she questioned.
"Yeah, a guessing game. I'll guess three things about you, and you do the same for me. This way we will get to know each other better."
"Sure. You start."
"Alright let's see. You are 5'7, and like to pay extra attention to your skin. A fashionista since you know what way to rock a pantsuit. The last thing would be is that your skin is sensitive and so you can't wear fake jewelery."
"Wow, not bad. Well my height is actually 5'8. I just have bad posture. I get my fashion sense from my mom since she is a fashion designer, and the jewelry part is spot on. I'm pretty impressed. So now my turn."
Just then our coffees arrived and we started to drink them.
"OK, so you are a disorganized person, considering the way you are eating like a slob. You do not like sweets since you put no sugar in your coffee, while you are lactose and tolerant because you ordered a black coffee."
I was pretty impressed.
"Well, not bad. The disorganization is right, no sweets is spot on, except I'm not lactose and tolerant. Just don't prefer milk in my tea or coffee, since I need the extra boost of caffeine. Plus, we are having cheese sandwiches. Pretty good though."
She replied with a simple, "thank you," and we were soon on our way after paying the bill. She seemed pretty cool. As well as, smart. I was gonna have fun working with her. Agent Amara Scott, welcome to the NY FBI, and my life.
