Ryan's POV

When the Chief called us (Amara and I) in I was curious. I'm sure we both were, except what could have gone wrong? The meeting this morning was the usual, just like every day. The rules of the place, everything must be confidential, be responsible, etc. I had listened to the same speech for the past three years now, so wasn't too interested. However, Amara seemed to be putting her soul into listening to the Chief. I knocked on the Chief's door, and saw Amara was already inside.
"Ah, Agent Michaels. We were just waiting for you. Well, I have a special case for you two. It requires some overtime, and will put your capabilities to the test. It is a very important case, and whatever we speak of in this from must remain confidential. If there is any information leaked, strict action will be taken. So play by the rules, both of you! Now if you promise to follow the rules, I will handover this case to you, and we can discuss further. If not, then you may leave this room and I will give this case to someone else. Now, the both of you are the most efficient agents we have, so I am entrusting you with this responsibility. Not that the others are not qualified, except the both of you have a sense of maturity in your work, and looking at the things you have gone through are not afraid of anything. So, let me know your decision by the end of the holiday break. Think carefully."
Looking at the things WE have gone through? What is that supposed to mean?
When Amara and I exited the cabin, Amara started talking to me.
"So, what do you think? I mean, I want to do the case. Do you?"
"Of course, I do."

We went to the coffee shop by her house, "Le Cafe." A small yet comfortable place. It had became our favorite place to go. Especially mine. We ordered the usual, and started thinking about the Holidays's.

"So what are you doing over the break? Visiting family?" I asked.

"Umm... Actually no. I don't have any plans, what about you?"

"Well I kind of have to visit the family once a year. Hey, how about you come with me? I mean if you don't mind or anything."

Suddenly her face lit up with joy.

"I would love too! Thank you."

So that was it. We went to our respective homes, packed our bags, and I picked Amara up from her home to catch the first flight to Texas, aka home sweet home. The greenery (when it was not winter), open land, and moms cooking just couldn't be matched. I was so happy to go home, especially happy to go with Amara. Somehow I knew this holiday season would be extra jolly.

"Well that night was tiresome!" Amara said while yawning.
"Really, you were sleeping on my shoulder most of the flight! Not that I minded it." I said quickly especially that last part.
"OK, ok! Sorry but I haven't slept that well in a while. I just felt safe with you so I fell asleep. That's all. Now can we go? I'm sure your family is waiting too. They do know about me, right?"
"Kind of..." I quietly murmured.

It was nice to know Amara trusted me. But her past was just... Just... Made me curious. So, about that family thing everyone just knew Amara was coming with me. But, I don't know how they understood it. Well I guess we just have to wait and see.
