NICK'S P.O.V.
I softly break off the hug.
Jake was too damn perfect. When i came sit next to me I couldn't resist no longer. His smile was soft with a tiny little hint of femininity, his strong bone structure was all male. I let my eyes linger for just a fraction longer than was customary. Not caring about the consequences. The hug had given me a magical feeling.
Suddenly reality strikes, and the magical feeling gets imposed by shame.
"Uh, I, eh, should go now. Tommorow. 9PM?" I stutter while making gestions with my hand. Goddamnit I'm making it worse.
He then he gives me a smile that just seems so genuinely sweet with just the right touch of shyness that unexpected warmth rushes through me.
"Sure, Nick, I'll be waiting for you!" He laughs.
"Bye." i bring out promptly and turn around straight off to the front door.
I can hear him laughing behind me. Does he know? Is he ridiculing me? No, his laugh is genuinely kind. Jakey's always been kind to me.
When i shut the door behind me I catch myself smiling. I make the smile dissapear as quickly as it came, stroke my chin and run towards the old silver car I bought with the money I made while working at the bakery.
Another car parks next to mine, 3 people get out. I recognise them immediately.
Jake's parents and his sister , Madison, The essences of summer, a goddess of the sun. Her golden hair draped down softly curling along the ends. Every time she appeared the day never ended and smiles never faded. She was a siren leading everyone to sudden happiness.
And a personality like poisoned honey.
I used to fancy her before I found out i leaned more towards princes than princesses.
Miss Evans notices me first. I know that because she always creates a particular high pitched sound when she hears me.
"Hi there, Nick, sweetheart, you're going early! Is everything alright?" she squeels, sometimes she reminds me of an excited pig on hard drugs.
"Yeah sure, miss. Jake wasn't feeling too well, so I suggested him getting back into bed. We're going to a sweet 16 tommorow."
"Oh, alright. I'll go check out on him. Stay stafe honey." she says with a sweet buttered voice that abruptly changes when she looks at her husband. "Albert, let's go!"
They both wiggle to the front door and dissapear.
Madison walks up to me on the high heels she's wearing. "Hey, handsome." She says and winks at me. "I'm also going tommorow, wanna be my slave for the night?"
"Sorry, chicka, going with Jake." I answer and wink back.
She's not amused.
"Guys don't go with guys, do you not get the concept of a date, shellhead?" She sneers at me. "If only your brains were as big as the muscles of yours."
She leans back and opens her eyes wide, obnoxiously faking as if she's surprised.
"Oh, I get it, you're gay!"
"Shut up, Madison. I'm not a fucking fag." I say brutally.
She scoffs at me and grins. "So you'll go with me?"
"FINE!" I yell, walking past her towards my car.
She chuckles and looks at her nails.
"See you tommorow then, sweetheart!" she yells with a bittersweet tone. "Don't be late!" she smiles maliciously, unveiling her pearly white, perfectly alligned teeth between her cherry red lips.
She turns and parades towards the door. "Oh, and Nick." she says over her shoulders.
I turn around with a loud sigh. "What, barbiedoll?"
"Try to wear something that's not from the gap."
She gives me a short fake smile and without looking behind goes to the door.
I get into my car, and slam the car door shut with all the frustration holed up inside of me.
Goddamnit i wanted to go with Jake! My sweet lovable Jake. I couldn't risk it though. Madison is the most popular girl on school, if she'd tell people I'm gay my reputation would be dead, I might even get kicked out of the football team, I'm a damn captain. I can't put that all at stake, right?
I scoff and shake my head. I'll just get her there with Jake and dump her somewhere in the crowd. I'd rather dump her somewhere deep under the cold dark earth, as she deserves, but whatever.
I drive off the driveway, throwing a look at Jake's bedroom chambers. I can see no movement through the windows. If only I were there right now.
I sigh and once i'm on the road i slam the gas pedal, full speed away from Madison and her pig-like parents, away from Jake.
