Chapter 1 The inability to deduce

Sherlock had been having trouble with a case for the past couple of days now and just couldn't get his head around it. The normal things weren't working; violin, nicotine patches etc... they just weren't clearing his head like they would usually.

'Damn this case!' he exclaimed to no one in particular, he hadn't even realised that John had gone out. Once again, on a date.

He put his coat, gloves and scarf on and decided to take a walk. It didn't usually work but it was worth a try, he could do some simple deducing of pedestrians just to pass the time as well.

He took a deep breath as he stepped outside of 221b and started walking down the street. It was busier than most days, but seeing as it was a Saturday it wasn't any surprise, tourists and all.

He started to analyse people; 'Middle aged woman, recently divorced, three dogs.' 'University student, philosophy, ADHD.' 'Doctor Who fan, struggling for money, lives with parents.' Sherlock went on like this for the entirety of the street until he had gotten bored, nobody was really catching his attention, they were all so bland! Nobody interesting at all!

He started to turn the corner of the street when someone slammed into his chest and startled him slightly. He looked down at the person responsible as he realised that they had fallen over and that was when they really caught his attention. He couldn't tell anything about them, they were completely blank.

Sherlock held out his hand as he shook himself out of the confusion, 'Do you need any help?' He asked still a little bewildered about how you gave away nothing.

'Yes, thank you,' you said simply, taking his hand and being pulled up.

You started to brush yourself off from all the dust from the street when he introduced himself, 'The name's Sherlock Holmes, and you are?'

'Oh, uh, right. I'm _____' you managed to stutter out as you shook his hand firmly.

'So tell me _____, why can't I deduce you?' He asked looking mildly confused, with his brow furrowed.

'Because I don't have anything for you to deduce,' you answered looking him straight in his cool grey eyes.
