Rosalie Grady's icy eyes woke up to darkness, the still of early morning welcoming her bones. The house seemed utterly quiet as she stretched her limbs out to sit up in bed. She rose from her spot, carrying herself to her bathroom to prepare for her day ahead. She was to accompany her Uncle to the Raptor Pad, shadowing the training. She was the niece of Owen Grady the Raptor Trainer for Jurassic World, a new and improved Jurassic park, as they called it. Her parents passed at a young age which left Owen in charge of her upbringing as he was the next of kin only left.
Parenting seemed to come natural for Owen especially with Rose. She was enigmatic and responsible like her father but rebellious like him. She could also have a wild mean streak when she felt so. Owen stood in the kitchen, dressed in his gear for the day. He prepared their usual breakfast, the soft padding of her feet echoing down the hall. She emerged cladded in her usual converse and jeans combo, cladded with a plain t-shirt. "Nope." Owen muttered without even looking up from cooking. His sixth sense scared her most times. Rosalie paused and rose a brow to him in confusion. "What is it?" Her soft voice asked. Owen placed the cooked eggs onto their plates before placing the dishes into the sink, eyeing his nieces attire. "Your forgetting something." He stated as he crossed his arms. She looked down at herself, realizing she hadn't prepped any sleeves to protect her skin in case of, mishaps. Not that it would do much either way. "I have a jacket in your truck if that works?" She suggested, a small smirk playing on her lips. Owen returned it with his own rolling his eyes. "Sure kid. It's not like you'll be working directly with them anyway" he stated, pushing her plate towards her easily. "Eat up, we gotta get going." He took a sip of coffee as he watched Rose sit down and begin to eat, their eyes meeting briefly and warm smiles encompassing their faces.
Rosalie followed Owen to the truck, hopping into the passenger seat with a bounce. She laughed closing the door as Owen sent her a warning glance, climbing into the truck himself. "Listen if you break my old girl you get to work on it." The empty threat caused another laugh to leave her chest as he started the engine and quickly drove off from the bungalow on the river. "Please, you dont even let me go near the bike" she responded to which Owens own laugh released "damn right because then you'll ask to take it for a joy ride" he chided. Rose shrugged her shoulders enjoying watching the scenery pass in the passenger window. "I think I'd make a pretty great driver if you asked me." Owen shook his head and smiled. "Your 16 with no driving experience, Im not sure about that statement being entirely factual." Her head snapped in his direction, lips feigning a gasp. "What? Me?" Her tone held a slight tease eliciting a shake of Owens head. The two erupted into laughter again with a comfortable silence soon following.
As they drove down a winding pebbled road to the raptor paddock Owen cleared his throat. Rose looked up from her phone to look at him. "So I'm gonna need a favor from you for today. After the training." Owen started causing Rose to grow skeptical. He usually was outright with his favors but even his own voice came out questionable as he spoke. "What exactly if this favor?" she questioned him. She noted how his jaw tensed slightly indicating he wasn't fond of what he was going to ask of her. "Do you remember Claire?" Her eyes narrowed at the mention of the red head he went on a brief date with. "What about Claire?" Her skepticism was growing with each minute as they neared the paddock, Owen parking the truck and looked at her pointedly. Must be something serious for him to be acting this way as he was typically carefree unless around the animals. "I owe her a favor. Her nephews are going to be visiting the parks and her assistant has taken an emergency family leave. I was wondering if you could chaperone them, show them around?" He rose a brow at her as she stared at him. She could never truly say no to Owen him doing so much for her already. "How old are they?" She questioned, wanting to be mentally prepared if she had to take care of small child. "Youngest is 12, oldest is your age I believe." She quirked her head to the side. That was decently doable. She huffed a dramatic sigh out, rolling her eyes "fine, i guess I can do it" Owen smiled her way graciously. "Thanks kiddo" he reached his hand over to ruffle her hair and she sent a wide smile his way "anytime owe." With the request over the two left the vehicle and headed to the paddock's entrance preparing themselves for another day with the girls. This was Rosalies favorite part of the day, no matter what.
