I get home, placing the movies, water and chips on the counter with a smile on my face.

"Why so smiley?" Gilinsky asks, picking up the bag of chips and opening them as he leans against the counter.

"Nothing," I say, looking at my feet.

"Oh come on Jack, I know you. What's up?" He says, nudging my arm. I laugh a little before replying.

"There was this gorgeous cashier at Walmart, dude. Like, I couldn't even speak, she was just so stunning. She took my breath away," I say, thinking about Brooke.

"Well, why don't you go back? I mean, it IS a store. Just go grab some food or something, I don't know," Gilinsky says, shrugging.

"Jack, I was just there 10 minutes ago! What if she remembers me or something..." I say, panicking a little while thinking of embarrassing myself in front of her.

"She gets what? 80-100 checkouts a day? I doubt she'll remember you. Just go man, what if she isn't there tomorrow?" He says, wiggling his eyebrows at me. I sigh, grabbing my keys yet again and heading out the door.

What could I possibly need? Toilet paper... Soap... Some food? God, I don't know.

Jack, why are you so scared?! You've only had one conversation with her, and she doesn't even know your name. Chill the fuck out. You can do this.

I go to the food aisle, grabbing a bag of popcorn and making my way to the cash registers.

I see Brooke standing at the same aisle, and I quickly make my way over to her. She keeps her head down, scanning my bag before looking up.

"That'll be $2.99..."

"Wait, have I seen you before?" She asks, furrowing her eyebrows.

Shit.
