Mayley stopped breathing heavily and wiped the sweat from her face. She sat down on the bench and looked around. Families were playing together, people running, smiling; life for them was as it should be. As it will never be for me, Mayley thought. She stood up, her legs burning and took a drink of water
. Just then she saw a glint of something shiny. She jogged over to it and bent down. It happened to be a piece of glass jammed into a pine tree and "Sumner Park Mayley" was carved into the sappy slate . Was this what the guy was talking about? She noticed the sun made a strong beam shining through the glass into the woods. She swallowed and stepped into the brush. The line did not go far, but it was far enough to follow.  Mayley tore through the thorns that were jabbing into her side, she suddenly noticed a sudden stop to the line. For the line falls where least expected for the Thorne jabs where least intended. The riddle was made out into the dirt right below her feet and marked deeply into the earth. She began to get frustrated as time passed and no answer came. ......the Throne jabs where least intended. What's that supposed to mean?! She wiped her brow and smacked her skull trying to think. Suddenly, like a lightbulb, she dove right back into the thorns and dug up the dirt all around the bright reflective light. She pulled out a bright pink flash card and jammed it into her pocket.  Panting, she stared into space, right now, nothing else mattered. Mayley sat and watched as the sun went down the light started to fade and she, slowly untangled herself from the stickers. Before leaving, she forced the glass out of the pine, and wrapped it in a square of cloth for safe keeping. Today, was only a drop in the ocean.
