Slamming the door to my Hummer, I lit a cigarette and started walking towards the high school. I knew exactly who I wanted today. I rolled up my sleeves and stopped right in my tracks staring through my sunglasses right at him.

He stuck out like a sore thumb. Mr. Badass Ricky Tuel. It was actually funny because his last name fit the usual profile of him. Hell, he even looked like one. Looking to my right, I saw Kylie. My badass right hand girl.

“Checking out Mr. Tuel there I see.” I flicked the bird and looked around for my target.

“You sure she said it?” She looked at me with disbelief.

“Hell yeah. She looked right at me and said it. No one calls you a dead beat whore and says anything about Elise.” She looked away when she said my mother’s name. I never called her mom or mommy. She was like my sister. My other half. Then they just had to take her away from me leaving me with a father that never cared. I scanned the crowd then stopped on the perky blonde being thrown in the air.

I pushed and shoved my way through the crowd and stopped about 10 feet away from her. Juliet.

Juliet is the perky cheerleader I’ve always hated. She thought it was just HILARIOUS when the police came in telling me what had happened to my mother. Ever since, she made sure I heard ‘Mommy Dearest’s’ cries from down the hall.

The rest of the cheerleading squad all gasped and backed up with two of the cheerleaders blocking my view of her. As soon as they caught her, they scurried to the right leaving her dumbfounded.

“Juliet Marks. How lovely to see you. Sad occasion though.”

“What? Did your dead beat father die too? What a tragedy.” She faked a tear with her finger running down her hand.

I took one more puff of my cigarette and flicked it at one of the cheerleaders and heard a mumble with a scream. While taking off my jacket and sunglasses, she looked scared.

“Oh No! Please Don’t Gabby!” She was faking it.

“Oh No. I Will and with ease.” I walked toward her and pushed people out of my way before I got a hold of her. She blocked me at first then I took her head and smashed it in my knee and held her hair. I didn’t plan to necessarily beat her to death but I threw her on the ground and saw blood at her nose.

“OKAY OKAY OKAY I’M SORRY! I WON’T DO IT AGAIN!” I laughed at this.

“You better. Or it’ll be worse.”

Turning on a heel, I walked back over to Kylie. She handed me my sunglasses and jacket and gave me a high-five as we walked up to hell.

“Miss Starr, Please pay attention will you?”

“You know Mr. Hanes, I had a little talk with myself about paying attention,” I said while tipping my chair back.” And I’ve found that I’m okay with not doing it.” People around the classroom giggled at this.

“Well, frankly I don’t care.”

“Well, I do.” I mocked.

He shot me a look and went on about talking. I threw my feet up on the desk and looked at my converse. They were pretty beat up. I looked at the heart in the right corner. My mother wrote it one day when we were picking cherries. I glared over at bloody Ricky. Yes, he was in my class. Biology would be nothing without him.
