I took another piece of French toast off of the plate in front of me, gladly indulging myself like a pig. I don’t think anyone would ever understand how heavenly Chris’ food tasted like, no matter the countless amount of times I’ve stuffed my face with it. Savoring each piece wasn’t enough, I had to keep going back for more. The way the flavor just flooded my mouth and my mind would never cease to amaze me. Chris’ cooking was the absolute best in this world.
Luckily, Chris was in the shower, so he wouldn’t see me eating like a chipmunk. I already knew how that turned out from the first time I tried his breakfast, and I didn’t want to go through that embarrassment again. It didn’t matter the countless amount of times I’ve ate around him or just been with him period to easily revert back to those habits that would never die in me. It would take no more than 5 seconds for me to get embarrassed and that infamous blush to creep across my cheeks, everyone knew that, especially Chris. Which is why I chose to eat while he wasn’t around, and save myself the further teasing.
I guess I spoke too soon, because not even a second after I stuffed a piece of bacon in my mouth, Chris appeared in the kitchen, clad in a black v-neck and boxers. As much as I hated it, that stupid blush came across my face as he watched me with a mouthful of food that just wouldn’t let me swallow it down. So, instead of potentially choking myself, I slowly chewed the food down, and safely swallowed it.
“ I see you’re enjoying my expertise of cooking, he teased, that devilish smirk on his face. I wanted to smack it right off of his face, even though he looked so handsome with it on his face.
“Shut up, Chris,” I remarked back, grabbing my orange juice and taking a sip. He didn’t say anything else, just grabbed the chair and pulled it next to me, giving me a slight peck on the forehead before sitting down.
“You must be in a really good mood today,” I commented.
“Why would you say that?”
“You’re wearing your favorite shirt,” I gestured to his shirt while still holding my cup of orange juice. He looked down for a second before returning his gaze back to me.
“Well, what can I say? I spent an amazing Friday night with my girlfriend whom I love, why shouldn’t I be in a good mood?”
I smiled, a feeling of contentness spreading through me. Last night was one of our usual Friday nights, and it was no different than the others, yet special in its own way. Nights with Chris, alone, without any others or interruptions just made me happy inside. Spending the few allotted hours with my boyfriend that I could have in privacy were what I cherished these days, and I would never be able to get enough of them.
“Or it might just be that I have amazingly good looks and I just felt like enhancing them even more.”
I scoffed, shaking my head. “You’re such a jerk.” He chuckled, his grey eyes glinting with amusement.
“Besides, you’re just a biology teacher, what’s so special about that?” There was a smile on my face the whole time that I spoke so he knew it was a teasing manner, but he still reacted like I hurt his feelings. This hurt, however, was soon replaced by his arrogance and super-inflated ego.
“Just a biology teacher, huh? Is this the same teacher that you were cuddled up against last night, legs intertwined, head laying in the crook of his neck, wearing nothing but his t-shirt and his boxers? ‘Cause if so, then I don’t think that he’s just ‘a biology teacher’. “ He put air quotes around the last part, and with each word he kept leaning in towards me, and now I could feel his breath on my face. I felt the crimson color rushing to my cheeks, and I knew he saw it, too.
