Nightmare

She was lost, hidden in the darkness of her new reality that was slowly and painfully coming to an end. Shadows resembling Trees bent around her broken, bruised and mangled body that was somehow still alive. Her friends and other dead bodies littered the floor. Tree roots impaling them at different angles, dark red blood flowed out of them and trailed down their sides and the roots. Their was a trail of blood and gore leading to what was left her friends and her body. She could hear the song that had condemned her to her demise, the sickly sweet tune ringing in her ears. The disturbingly happy song did not belong in a forest that had organs hanging from trees like ornaments on a Christmas tree. She was fighting a war with herself to stay awake, to stay alive. Half of her wanted to fall asleep, give up, let the pain of the tree roots digging into her body, the warm thick blood trailing down her cold skin fade away. While the other half did not want to give up, did not want to let her future and the hope of escaping this dreaded forest alive, or at least not having her body lost in this forest where no one would ever find out where she was or what had happened to her and her friends. But she had to leave before the monster that condemned her to this fate returned.

"Char"

She heard someone calling her.

"Charizard"

Someone was calling out for her someone was finally going to get her out of this hell. She tried to call back but the only thing that came out of her dry and hoarse throat was a squeak. She had lost her voice from screaming out for help during her torture that she had somehow endured.

"Charlie wake up"

Wake up? All she wanted to do was wake up from this nightmare.

OJ was late. She knew Charlie was waiting there for her so she had to hurry up. She also knew that her partner could never get mad at her no matter what she did, but she still didn't want her to wait alone.

"Just keep running or else you'll be even later than you are now OJ."

As she got further up the street she saw the lamppost her and Charlie met at everyday, and sitting on the floor leaning against said lamppost was the sleeping form of one of her best friends.

She started to call to Charlie to wake her up, but she soon realized that Charlie was dead asleep (which was very annoying since they were going to be even later if she couldn't wake her up quickly) and she wouldn't wake up unless drastic measures were taken.

"Charizard , unless you want me to embarrass you in front of your girlfriend for a week I'd wake up!"

Charlie shot off the ground and sat on OJs' stomach.

"She is not my girlfriend and until you realize this I'm going to continue sitting on you and tell you all of the demented things that are going through my head."

"As long as I have popcorn" OJ said cheerfully, without a care in the world.

"You need help. But not as much as I do."

The two friends laughed, with Charlie getting off of the lump of OJ lying on the floor.

"Do you think we'll make it to the school before first block?" Asked OJ.

"I don't think we will but we can try. Race ya?"

Charlie started to sprint down the street towards the school.

"Frucking (an: *giggles uncontrollably*) cheater."

As OJ and Charlie ran to the school, their thoughts occupied with keeping pace and thinking of insults for the other racer, they failed to notice a misplaced shadow among the alleys they passed on the way to their high school.
