Emma really did not want to get up from the comfortably shaded tree she was sitting under, but when she heard the familiar yelling of a duo of rowdy teens that were spilling insults and horrible jokes from their mouths like water flowing out into the ocean, she knew she had to intervene before they ended up killing each other and the rest of the school with puns from hell.

"I'm reading a book about anti-gravity. I just can't put it down." said the taller of the two, followed by a cringe from Emma and a snort from the girls partner.

"I tried to catch some fog, but I mist." added the shorter girl with red hair that almost looked brown.

"Please kill me now" stated Emma after listening to a couple more of the pairs puns that made her and some of the surrounding students cringe (mostly her) or try not to burst out laughing.

"Oh! Hey Emma!" said the two teenagers in tandem. The girls were still slightly panting and had bright red cheeks, but it was mostly from laughing at their own jokes. The taller girl had long brown hair with a black headband in it and wore a white sweatshirt with black jeans. While the slightly shorter girl had reddish-brown hair and wore a black shirt with a MCR logo on it and black jeans.

"You know classes are going to start soon, right? Everyone already headed to their classes to work on their homework from last night. Our teacher isn't here today and it was either go outside or to the library, and the library was full of annoying people so yeah."

"We should probably get to our classes too Charizard 'cause i'm pretty sure you didn't do your homework last night either, did you?" said OJ with a knowing smile. She knew Charlie stayed up late at night talking to her 'girlfriend'. Charlies' face reddened from embarrassment and she soon ran off to her classroom to finish the work she was supposed to have done last night.

'Just another hour, Charizard you can do it!' She had almost gotten through her classes and all of her friends jokes about her crush through her first class and lunch. But as Charlie tried to concentrate on getting through the rest of her class, shadows started to crawl out from every corner and crack in the room towards the teacher and the student she was yelling at. The only shadow that was not moving by itself was the teachers. She watched as the weird moving shadows spiraled around the teacher's' shadow. It looked like the teachers shadow was wriggling and twitching in pain, it screamed so loud that Charlie thought she would go deaf but it also dead silent, to her it looked like it was screaming and trying to claw its own face off. Only what she could assume was blood ran down the shadow and into the light where it disappeared.

"CHARLIE!" She was suddenly jolted from where she was staring at the dying shadow to her teachers face, while her own face became increasingly paler than it already was. "Pay attention in class unless you want to go to detention like this young man who is failing the class." The teacher pointed to a student that was being taken out of the room by another teacher. She wished she could but the teacher's voice and face kept blurring in and out of focus, she wondered if it was because of the blood red branches growing out of her head and the blood running out of her tear ducts, slipping down her face painfully slow.

"Charlie are you OK?" The teacher asked worriedly as she started to walk towards her. The other students turned around to look at Charlie, but their faces weren't normal like before. Some were missing eyes and had cuts along their mouths making them look like they were constantly smiling. Others were missing limbs and one was missing their lower jaw, their tongue hanging limply from what was left of their mouth. She felt like she was going to throw up, she wanted to die from the feeling of unimaginable pain flooding the air and choking her. Her body started to shake more and more with each step the teacher took towards her. When the teacher was only a step away from her desk, she jumped out from her chair which caused her to fall onto the floor. The teacher hurriedly walked around the desk to help Charlie up but when she walked around she saw Charlie curled up in a ball, shaking, and muttering incomprehensible sentences about shadows and bloody trees.

"Someone call the hospital, and i'll go and get the nurse. Watch Charlie and make sure she doesn't hurt herself or anyone else." said the teacher in a panicked voice. But Charlie wasn't focusing on what the teacher was saying she was too focused on the fact that out of everyone the teacher was missing her shadow. That was when Charlie blacked out. Unknown to everyone, including Charlie, her subconscious had woken up.
