Just as Eli turned his gaze and saw Calibri, an explosion of pure rage filled her and she screamed, "Die!" But the terrible noise was not the only thing she was emitting: as her vision went red, twin sudden, violent bursts appeared on the surface of her eyes and from within came two concentrated energy beams, fueled by pure, chaotic, and primal rage.
Even the beams themselves radiated energy as they hurled toward the target of her burning gaze: the person she called Eli, the man who had injured her dragon, savagely killed the Gryphon Master, and taken everyone's consciousness, or at least she thought ( apologies for the cliches and puns here... well, not entirely). Even the excess radiation was enough to cause enough trees to come crashing down that the area became known as "The Slashed Timber Woods." Then, in the heartbeat that it took to skip across the clearing, the full, personified (or energy-ified/energized) anger of Calibri rushed until it gave a direct hit to Eldra.
The explosion rocked the whole area, clouding the area where Eldra had been with smoke and ashes and causing some of the dragons, which had slept soundly through Calibri's ear splitting screech, too wake in fright at the amount of noise. But when the gray explosion mushroom cloud dissipated, something shocking emerged.
Eldra stood in where he had been, completely unscathed and in fact in the same position as before, except now his left, non-dominant arm was raised and clutching a ball of whitish-blue light, which Calibri knew at once to be her own energy, absorbed with astonishing power and lightning fast reflexes and now a properly channeled ball of raw magic (yes, that is what it was) in the hands of a true master.Anger no longer filled every fiber of Calibri's being; it had been almost completely used up in creating the beams- but now a new emotion filled its place, because though she was moody and at numerous times downright insane she was not an idiot and knew that she was in a position where she was outclassed by so many levels that her opponent need do no more than think it, and she would die any way he chose.
Then, in a spray of blue sparks, the knife vanished; in another, the ball of magic disappeared as well, or at least that's what it looked like: in reality, he had absorbed it into the aura of magic that surrounds every master of the magic arts. Then, in his usual, boisterous tone he said, "good job! Now that we know you're capable of magic and your whole anger thing is over, I think we should go with the dragons and find the kids you so nicely just awoke." (If you know anybody named Eli or Eldra, imagine this in their voice.)
Anger began to swell back up in her throat, but this time it was kept in check by other emotions running through her, namely fear and disgust. But before she could make anything out of this negative soup that would most likely lead to a lot of pain in certain areas of Eldra's/Eli's body, he threw in a new element that completely messed up the disaster recipe. "Oh, by the way, I didn't kill him-" he pointed with a stare at the Gryphon Master, " do that to the dragons, or knock you guys out, but I do like the idea of you guys all sleeping there together-" a perverted smile crossed his face that made Calibri want to slap him, but no longer did she desire to kill him in the most painful way possible. At least, it was no longer the thing she wanted to do to him most... (FYI her new idea is not perverted or related to... You know what).
Now he stayed quiet for long enough for Calibri to properly orient her thoughts, and when she was done she had around as many questions as candles the Nine Illusions birthday cake. However she found herself cut off by the sudden arrival of Preston, tailing which was everyone who had been left in the other clearing and had been rudely awakened by Calibri's nice little radiation storm.
It wasn't long before everyone was happily greeting each other and their dragons, and during this time Calibri, Amber, Preston, Bidshia and Elaine, each on their respective dragons, demanded answers from Eli. The interrogation was begun by Calibri, who demanded, "okay, you're obviously not who you say you are, so who the hell are you, Eli? And I want answers now, before I give Crimson Zyavel a new play toy." At this, Crimson Zyavel snarled in contempt at Eli, but all the humans who Calibri had told of her encounter and herself knew that Eli could probably kill them all before they could even realize.
Thankfully, on Eldra's part they were small children, and he looked at them as we look on newborn babies, except with a greater pride in his height. He replied with good natured laughter, which for some reason seemed more terrifying than anything else, but they knew that for some reason, he had chosen not to kill them before and would have done it already if he wanted. Then he replied,"first, please stop calling me Eli, the name is stupid and demeaning, call me Eldra. I cannot tell you exactly who I am, but know that I don't wish to harm you, and if you want to live, we have to get out of here. The tenebrii are not known to let their prey escape."
All the twelve year olds could do was think,"Whaa da- AAAARGH!" But then, all of a sudden, everyone besides them, their dragons and Eldra, dragon and human alike, had vanished, all simultaneously. "What did you do!" screamed Elaine, and Tempestuous roared so loudly that a nice thunderbolt ricocheted an inch above Eldra's head and continued into the forest. "Control your anger, lady!" exclaimed Eldra. "You, Calibri, and the rest of you have no control over the powers within you." "Who died and made you Yoda!" came Amber's angry reply. "Yeah!" agreed Elaine. "And what the heck do you mean by powers?" She said the last part in an over exaggerated way, adopting a mocking/sarcastic Yoda voice.
"Oh, for the love of the dragon god Lux, can you stop already, or I'll just be on my way and watch you be devoured by the tenebrii!" "Wait, you keep saying tenebrii," said Preston, speaking for the first time. "Is that what you call those things that you saved us from?" "Wait," said a confused Bidshia, "when did Eli, no, Eldra save... So you made the earth shield!" Calibri was trying to piece this together, having been out cold during the entire incident with the creature. To add to the confusion that plagued her and everyone else, the entire rest of the group all at once disappeared."What did you DO!" screamed Elaine. "And thinking I actually ... BLUGH!" Retched Elaine. "Your friends have all been teleported to the capital, where they will find safety and transportation to wherever they choose," said Eldra. "However, the government has chosen you five for something which your parents have already been notified about." Amber was the first to say, "How the **** is that even legal! We're 12 years old and-" here Eldra cut her off with,"and you're technically full dragon riders, making you official soldiers of the empire." "Why I augta-" "When you know who I am, Amber, you will not be so quick to retort. Now, hurry, their is a lot to explain and little time to waste if we all wish to begin alive."
Boo! Tis the death of a great ship, Elaine+Eli, but it had to be done, and from know on we won't have to worry about the whole name thing: only Eldra will be used. I am sorry about the pictures, but I could not find better ones and can't crop on my device. In this chapter and the future, angry people may mean cussing, but asterisk replacements will be made and it will very rarely be used (besides, I know no real cuss words). And if you liked the past chapters, read on: the quest has just begun. 😂😜😅😫
