Dark, and darker yet stretched in every direction. She stood on nothing and breathed in nothing. Her hair and dress seemed to float like she was standing at the bottom of the ocean. Her eyes saw nothing, her ears heard nothing. She stood, and stood, waiting. She said nothing, but felt her throat being grabbed. She choked on nothing, she gasped for nothing. She felt the grabbing tighten, she felt a pair of eyes. She looked, nothing, nothing, then something. He stood there smiling, she stood there dying. He laughed, nothing, she cried, nothing. Her face turned blue, his eyes lit up red. She sputtered out nothing, he spoke,
"You've failed."
Irsa gasped and sat up quickly her heart pounding. She looked around her room sunlight filtering in through her window. She took several slow, deep breaths as her heart calmed down. She threw off her covers and rubbed the sleep from her eyes before getting up. Her white night-gown brushed the cold floor. Gasping slightly she jumped over to the rug and awkwardly grabbed a pair of socks from her drawer. She walked out, socked and less cold, to the main room. Faelan was lying on the couch snoring loudly while Discornia was sitting by the hearth reading. Irsa walked up smiling and sat down next to her,
"I know what you're going to ask, I don't know where Porri ran off to and Artemis is still asleep." Irsa blinked and nodded quickly standing up. It was clear she didn't want company. Irsa poked Faelan in the side and he woke up with a yelp.
"Hey what gives?" she muttered drowsily, Irsa pointed to the clock and then walked to Artemis' door giving it a polite knock. After a few minutes of no answer she opened the door and stepped inside. His room was mostly black, sunlight barely making it through his dark curtains. She sighed and went over to his window yanking the curtains to the sides flooding the room with bright light. Behind her a lump of blanket on the fancy, four post bed shifted and grunted. Irsa giggled and went over poking it.
"Five more minutes" The lump mumbled. Irsa shook her head and grabbed the covers tearing them away. Artemis opened an eye to glare at her and grabbed the cover pulling it back over his head. Irsa pulled it away again and they repeated this process several times before, with a loud groan he sat up.
"Alright, alright I'm up!" Artemis yawned. Irsa smiled and walked back out to the main room. Faelan was poking Discornia repeatedly,
"Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey," She said over and over while Irsa sat down on the couch. Artemis shuffled out of his room and sat down next to her.
"I'm starving," He whined "Where's Porri?" Irsa shrugged and Faelan looked over still poking Discornia,
"Not sure, he woke me up then ran off." She said then returned to her current activity. Artemis grumbled and leaned back, Irsa now noticed the disheveled state of his hair. It fell down in every direction making him look rather silly. Irsa tried to stifle a laugh but his gaze shot to her and he narrowed his eyes.
"What?" He huffed straightening up. Irsa smiled and reached out brushing back his hair so it was less messy. He watched her quietly and huffed when she pulled away satisfied with the appearance.
"Ooooooh," Faelan mused, "Get a room you two!" Artemis stood up his face flushed,
"Shut up!" Irsa's cheeks grew red as well and she raised an eyebrow,
"Eh?" The others grew quiet and turned to her. Her cheeks grew warmer and she looked from face to face. Faelan opened her mouth to say something before, the door slammed open and Porri walked in with a large bag.
"Hey! I got breakfast!" He grinned and hefted the large bag into the table in the middle. Irsa sighed in relief and leaned forward to look at the selection of food he brought.
