Song: It's Time - Imagine Dragons
//Past//
It was 6:00 in the morning and Diya was filling a duffel bag with clothes and some books to read on the train.
To say that she was out of her mind was an understatement. She didn't know anyone going on this trip but she had still bought a ticket. Yes, they were her old classmates but she wasn't that close to them. But what was done was done.
She was going on this trip. She was going to do something for herself no matter what the consequences may be. She didn't have a clue about the world and this was finally my chance to learn and to make mistakes.
Diya grabbed a few other things before zipping up the backpack. She turned to search for a piece of paper and then rummaged through a drawer to find a pen. She was going to leave a letter for her mother. She knew her parents would never allow her to go if she were to ask.
She had tried to talk to them last night at dinner about how she was fed up with her constant routine. But they never took anything seriously and this was the only option left.
Ma,
I'm going on that trek in Manali with some of my friends. I bought myself tickets and I have everything I need. Please don't worry about me. I'll be fine and I will try to call whenever I get the chance to let you know that I'm alright. I have to do this ma, I have to let myself experience this. I hope you understand. I love you.
-Diya
Putting the pen down, she grabbed the duffel bag and headed out of the room. She set the letter on the dining table and with a sigh, she swung the bag over her shoulder.
She put her hand on the doorknob, turning to look around at the house once more.
With a deep breath, she turned the knob and walked out.
Here goes nothing.

The train would leave in ten minutes and Diya was running for my life. Finally, the train came into view and she set her bags down, pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose.
She looked around in search of a familiar face and smiled when she saw Zayn.
It took him a moment to notice her and when he did he was caught off guard. He didn't think she'd actually come. But here she was, standing in front of him looking as amazing as ever.
"You made it." He smiled which caused Diya to feel a little lightheaded.
"Yup, you asked so nicely. So how could I have ever refused?"
He chuckled, finding her adorable.
"I can't believe you actually remembered me. At first I thought that you didn't."
"It would be a crime to forget those glasses, wouldn't it?" He grinned which made Diya laugh.
"You haven't changed one bit." She said.
"No?" He asked, his eyebrows raising.
"Nope." She shook her head.
"Diya?" Someone called her name and she looked over Zayn's shoulder to see someone step off the train and making their way over to them.
"Hi, I'm the trip leader. Listen, there's not much I can do since this is last minute. None of the bunks are available."
She sighed and felt like crying because she did not just risk so much to only end up not going on this trip. "There's nothing at all that you can do? Please?" She begged him. "I'll sleep on the floor if I have to."
"Sleep with me." Zayn said out of nowhere and heat rushed to Diya's cheeks as she turned to glare at him.
"Not with me." He smirked, amused by her reaction. "We'll take turns with the bunk. And we can bribe the ticket collector."
"Okay then." The leader agreed. "Let's go." He climbed back onto the train and Zayn followed.
She bent down to pick up her bags which were suddenly too heavy. "Hey, Zayn?" She called.
He peeked his head out of the train. "What's up?" He asked.
"Can you please help me with my bags?"
He jumped down onto the platform and lifted her bags up with ease.
The train whistle blew and she froze, being hit with the realization of how big this decision was.
The whistles sounded a few more times and she felt her heart rate speed up.
What am I doing?
"Do I have to carry you as well?" Zayn asked from where he stood on the train.
She looked up at him, her mind filling with all of the possible things that could go wrong on this trip.
Zayn's eyes widened as the train began to move. "Yo four eyes! Let's go!" He extended his hand towards her and all she could do was watch as he began to move farther away from her.
Zayn looked over his shoulder to see how much of the platform was left. He jumped down and ran until he was standing right in front her.
He grabbed ahold of her face, "Diya." He said softly, breaking her away from her thoughts. "Come on. We have to go."
"I've... Never gone anywhere alone like this before. I'm scared." She whispered.
He shook his head. "Don't be. You'll have lots of fun. Nothing will happen, love. Trust me, okay?" He grabbed her hand and she somehow didn't feel scared anymore.
"Okay." She agreed.
"Let's go." He turned around and began to run to catch up with train and all Diya could think of was his hand in hers.
He let go of her hand to grab ahold of the train. Once he was inside he extended his hand towards her again and she quickly grabbed it. He lifted her off the platform and into the train and she was suddenly pressed up against his chest. She moved back quickly, both of them trying to catch their breath.
Zayn began to laugh at the fact that they had almost missed the train, his eyes crinkling at the edges as he held onto his stomach.
As Diya watched him, she began to think that maybe this trip wouldn't be so bad after all.
