Chapter Twenty-One
Kyle stared at Ethan's sleeping form just like he had been for the past few hours.
It seemed Ethan was feeling rather restless in his sleep, as he'd wake up every half hour or so. Or at least he would stir, but the doctors never gave him a chance to get his bearings. The minute he made the slightest movement or noise, they'd rush in and give him more medication and check his stats. Kyle didn't bother to speak to them, and they made no move to talk to him either.
After all, he wasn't really sure if he honestly wanted to know what kind of condition the boy was in...
His eye socket had been broken, and it seemed like his nose had suffered the same fate. Bruises covered his face, and their were hand marks on his neck. In the time Kyle had been sitting there though, it seemed like the swellings and bruising had began to go down... Rather quickly as well. It must have been something they were giving to him.... The only other thing Kyle could really see what the medical tape and gauzes that covered both of his shoulders. Besides that, he couldn't tell what kind of condition Ethan was in any further.
The heart rate monitor showed his heart was fine, and considering he wasn't using any oxygen, that must have meant that he was breathing okay as well... Or at least his lungs were working. His vitals looked fine as well, but considering they kept pumping him full of drugs, and he had an IV, Kyle wondered if the boy really seemed as fine as he appeared.... Well then again, he looked like he had had the shit beat out of him. So really, what did Kyle know right now?
Every ten minutes or so, Kyle would find himself getting angry. He didn't know if he was angry at Ethan for letting himself fall into this lifestyle, or at Brett for kidnapping his boy.... Or maybe he was really pissed off at Him for bringing Ethan into this life.... Since when was living this life so complicated?
All Kyle had ever wanted in life was to meet an average girl, who had an average job, they had average children together, and they lived the average life.... It was the dream life that didn't require that much work, and look what he was doing now.
He had fallen for a boy who had nearly fallen to his death, sitting somewhere in Germany, watching the said boy try to fight to wake up. He was living a life he would have never dreamed of, and he couldn't even begin to imagine how his parents would feel if they found out he had gone gay.... Jeez, they'd probably insist on baptizing him or something.
Pulling himself away from his thoughts, Kyle glanced back over to Ethan who was still fast asleep. His gaze relaxed, and after a moment he sighed, as he wondered how long the younger man was going to be knocked out for.
"And you are?"
Kyle turned in the seat he had been sitting in, looking over his shoulder at the door. A man who looked to be in about his forties or fifties stood there, using a very cliche white doctor's coat. He had light blonde hair, and had a bit of a beard and mustache. He had light green eyes, and seemed to be a little taller than average... A little over six foot, maybe. The doctor looked built as well, judging by how slim but big he appeared to be beneath his jacket.
Kyle realized he had been staring stupidly, and quickly tried to think properly again as the man perked a brow at him.
Climbing to his feet, Kyle offered his hand over to the man. "Kyle Hogin.... And you are?" He asked in return.
The man seemed to consider what the other had said for a moment, before crossing over the floor. A folder he had been holding was shifted into his other hand, and he offered the proper right hand out to Kyle. They clasped hands, and gave a simple shake before pulling away.
