Father

The freezing cold wind was blowing at my bare legs as I waited at the bus stop. I noticed the familiar yellow vehicle pull up as I walked towards it, paying the man and finding myself a seat. At the back were where all the 'cool' people sat. My cousin Niall was one of them and he always invited me to sit back there with him but his friends looked at me funny.

I sat at the very front and fiddled with my school skirt waiting for the bus to take me to school.

When we arrived, I grabbed my books and headed straight to home room class. The teacher came in early with a small girl. She had long blonde hair and blue eyes and was wearing the same uniform, yet I haven't seen her before.

"Class, we have a new student. I expect you all to be kind to her and help her out. Tell us about you dear."

The girl shyly waved before speaking quietly to us all.

"M-my name is Lily Styles, I just moved here because my dad got a new job. I lived in London before where it was cold but now being here in Australia its really hot." She started rambling like the class wasn't there.

A guy in the class snorted a laugh and Lily's face dropped.

"Is there anyone who would like to help Lily around?" The teacher asked hopefully, scanning the classroom for airborne hands. The girl looked hurt and I though of how I would feel in her shoes, so I stuck up my hand. A wave of happiness washed over her face and it looked like the teachers did too.

"Okay Lily, go take a seat next to Odessa, she's a lovely girl"

I smiled at her and pulled the chair out for her to sit on.

Little did I know this was what caused my whole life to turn upside down.
