Hanai POV
"Ya, wake up!" I opened my eyes to see my very hungover best friend.
"Can't we just stay here?" I groaned, not wanting to get up.
"Although I would love to go back to sleep, if you haven't noticed, we're currently laying down in a parking lot"
Maybe that's why I'm so sore. Sleeping on concrete isn't very fun to be honest. Luckily I had my backpack as a makeshift pillow. I stood up, my legs were wobbly and could barely hold me up.
"Uh, May, where exactly are we going to go?" I questioned, looking around.
It's been about a week since May and I got evicted from our apartment, and it wasn't so bad at first. We'd just go to parties, crash at their house for the night, then walk around the city the next morning.
But being technically homeless is getting harder and harder. I mean we've got money, but not enough. That's all thanks to May, who spent all of our money after her asshole of a boyfriend broke up with her. It was tragic, really.
I'm not very certain how we ended up in this parking lot, but I'm surprised we weren't mugged or something. This place is obviously abandoned, and very sketchy looking.
May and I exited the parking lot and walked through the streets of Seoul. People gave us strange looks, but I don't really blame them. We both look like the kids you surely shouldn't trust, and we were.
It wasn't our clothes that looked sketchy. No, we dressed like any other teenager really. But our messy hair and raccoon like smeared makeup made us look half dead. We definitely looked up to no good.
And that's exactly how I would describe us. I met May the night I left home. I was 15 and reckless. After sneaking out of the house, I went to a gas station. I was buying all kinds of things. Food, drinks, deodorant. Anything I thought I would need.
May, who was 19 at the time, asked me if I was running away. I was incredibly shocked that she figured that out so quickly, but simply told her yes. She asked me where I was going. I gave her the most honest answer I knew, I don't know. After that she asked if she could tag along, and from then on she was my parter in crime.
For the first year of being with May we had already moved to Seoul and had an apartment. Which we continued to live in until a week ago. May kept me alive, and I'm very greatfull for that. My life changed when I met May, I'm not sure if it was for the better or worse but it definitely changed.
I'd probably still be stuck at home, going to school, and having to deal with my abusive parents if it wasn't for May. I love her more than anything.
I continued to walk with my head down. May walked with her head held high, full of confidence. Sometimes I wish I could be like May, my confidence doesn't kick in till Midnight. When the thrill of night comes is when I'm most happy.
Until then, though, I'm just like any other awkward antisocial teenager. I watched my feet as we walked along the sidewalk.
"Where are we going May?"
"Home."
"You wish. Where are we actually going?"
