~Kaylie's POV~
"Listen, just get away! I can't speak right now!" I yelled, slumping my back against the door. "I've had enough of the shit you tell me."
Mom banged on my door. "Kaylie! I'm sorry! Please open the door!"
I said nothing and just sat on my bed. They've got to be kidding me. First, they promised me that they won't get divorced and live like a normal family. Next, they go on about switching partners with another married couple.
Who the hell does that these days! I looked out my window. The sky was as gray as I was. I wondered why they even get married just to run into another 'soul mate' at work. Honestly, why did I try to be good in front of them.
-Five Minutes Ago-
"Kaylie," dad called, "breakfast is ready!"
"Coming!" I shouted back, combing the last knot in my hair. I ran down stairs and flew to my seat. Mom was eating up the breakfast sandwich dad made. As I took a bite, I noticed they were exchanging nervous looks. I narrowed my eyes at them.
"What happened?" I asked sternly. This can't be good.
"Nothing, I don't know what you're talking about." she said nervously. I turned to dad. He was easier to crack than mom.
"Hey dad. What's mo-"
"WE'RE GOING TO SWITCH PARTNERS WITH ANOTHER FAMILY! AND THEY'RE VISITING US TODAY!" he said quickly.
"Please forgive us hon. It's just that we've found our ideal soul mate. We didn't know that we'd find it at work, and we know we promised to be together foreve, but...I hope you'd understand." mom said.
It was silent for a moment, but then I said, "Is that all? Is there anymore shit I should hear?"
They looked down at their lap in shame. I placed my sandwich down. I stared at them for a moment before running off to my room. I locked the door and leaned against it. I heard mom's footstep running to my room. She pounded on the door.
"Kaylie! I'm sorry we lied to you! We didn't mean to!"
-Present-
I looked away from the window and went to my drawer. I took out my headphones and iPod, and started listening to Sarcasm by Get Scared. Coral, my special ferret, jumped on my head and removed my headphones, dropping it on the floor.
"You've got to stop doing that. I was trying to calm down before I use telekineses on them." I said, picking them up.
"Why are you mad anyways?"
"Mom and dad's saying they're switching partners with another family. And they're coming over."
"You should watch out." She said, hopping to my lap.
"And why's that?"
"They might catch you when you're practicing."
I rolled my eyes. "We have the mind erasing powder."
She scratched my wrist. "It erases their memory completely you moron! Your the leader of the Seven Moons for goodness sakes! Act like on!"
"Okay, okay. Keep your panties on. I get it." I sighed.
I looked up at the clock. Four more minutes before mom leaves, six before dad leaves, and ten before I leave. I just noticed that mom stopped banging on my door. She probably gave up. I grabbed my phone from my dresser and called Shay.
"Hello?"
"Hey Shay, are you awake?"
"I've been awake."
