Epilogue, 10 years later
"So that's how you met Daddy, Momma?"
I looked down at our beautiful 10-year old daughter, Scarlet Mae Tyler, and smiled lovingly.
"That's how we fell in love." I replied.
I twisted my wedding band around my finger absentmindedly.
"It only took about 2 years for us to make it official."
Scarlet smiled up at me. "You never told me that story before. Is that how Daddy would have remembered it, you think?"
I laughed. "Probably, although he would have exaggerated it; you know how he was, baby girl."
She laughed too, and then her face turned sullen.
"I miss him, Momma." She whispered.
"I know you do, baby. I'm grateful you got the time that you did. I guess it's partially the fault of our ages. Your father was much older than I was, but nevertheless, he loved you very much in those 8 years he had with you."
"Did he love you too?" Scarlet asked.
I smiled to myself. "He did. He told me so everyday."
I stopped talking to avoid tears coming to my eyes.
I broke out of it, and stood up from my seat at the kitchen table, motioning for Scarlet to do the same.
"Up! Time to go to school!" I said, leading her out of the house with her backpack and lunch.
About twenty minutes later, we arrived at her school, and she got out of the car.
I blew her a kiss, telling her I'd be here to pick her up after.
She blew me a kiss back, and walked into the building.
*******
My face was expressionless, as I parked the car down the hill. Sadness sunk into my bones as it always did when I visited him.
I got out of the car, and trudged up the hill on shaky knees. Some things never change.
I stopped in front of his grave, and kneeled down. I ran my hand across the marble, which was cold to the touch, as always.
"Happy birthday, Steven." I muttered, smiling sadly.
I felt the tears silently falling down my face before I could stop them. I sniffled, digging in my pocket for what I was looking for.
I smiled when I found it.
I placed the bracelet down onto the grass, with the other two, nestled against the grave.
A bracelet for each year since he passed away. Even though he was gone, he would still remain a part of my life.
I sighed, before speaking again.
"I miss you everyday my love, but guess what? I finally told Scarlet our love story. She found it very romantic, just as I did when it happened. I always talk like you're listening when I come here, but I hope you are. I'm sure you're resting in paradise up there. Next year I'll bring Scarlet with me. I will love you forever, Steven. I promise."
With that, I stood up from the ground, and inhaled a breath of the autumn air.
I closed my eyes, taking in the serenity.
I reopened them a moment later, and started down the hill.
As I walked, I could have sworn I heard a whisper through the wind:

"Rosie...."

I looked back at the vast emptiness, and smiled.

The End
*******

A/N: so that's it. Let me know what you think. I know it's not a happy ending, but I wanted to make this one maybe a bit more realistic. It's sad, but I feel like it's also beautiful at the same time.
I love you guys. Thanks for reading x
