When I stepped into the hall, a couple of people were talking at the water cooler to my left, and a guy was pacing to and fro talking on his cell phone to my right. I decided I would put this to a real test, just in case this was "just a prank".
I walked over to the man on his cell and clocked him in the jaw. He passed out, mouth gaping and wide eyes sliding shut as he crumpled like a marionette with its strings cut. The three or four people stared at me and then started walking over to keep me from hurting anyone else. Before they got me, though, I set the watch for 3 minutes before. Nothing happened, it appeared. Then I blinked.
I was suddenly back in front of the door to the conference room. Same deal as before, with a couple of people talking at the water cooler and that guy I just slugged talking on his cell phone.
After taking some time to process what just happened and to see its implications, I decided this would best be used as a voluntary, portable groundhog day. Robbed a bank and don't want to go to jail? Boom. The Watch. Want to enjoy a day off as long as you want? There you go. The Watch'll cover you.
But now I had to think what to do, now that I had the means to do it. I could do any of the three that I said before, but those were just examples. I bet if I thought long enough, I could think of something mind blowing.
And I had all the time in the world.
